Spencer W Kimball was born and raised here ... when a pastor friend asked me what I thought about the rock in the hat, I immediately went to the local (lds run) college library and found so much hypocrisy right in the lds books available to every member of the church, and they refuse to do any research ... they are truly brainwashed to NEVER question the church because their eternal welfare is at stake ... very bizarre ... I am now a black sheep 😇

Your audience member makes an intelligent point. If the Church admitted no wrongdoing, and the SEC accepted the settlement without such admission, it would seem like that’s case closed. Unless you know something we don’t? Is the SEC in the tank for the church?

I think what he’s saying is if you go read the actual settlement, the Church wasn’t forced to admit any wrongdoing, and they said it was just an error based on bad advice from legal counsel. The SEC accepted the settlement without an admission of guilt. However some people have ran with the narrative that the Church was intentionally being dishonest, and lying and intentionally breaking the law. It just seems like you can’t honestly draw that conclusion, if the SEC hasn’t made that claim, and they accepted a settlement that offered no admission of guilt, and if the alleged offender didn’t admit any wrongdoing. In this country we have the presumption of innocence… so that should count for something.
