By the technical definition, Latter-Day Saints are Protestant Christians. To the vast majority of Christians, we are not Christian because we differ on our views of what they call the Trinity (which was coined by the Catholic Church that they also claim are not Christians) and scripture (all though they also ignorantly clasp to the Bible as the only possible book of scripture, which is also a concoction of texts from the Catholic Church that they like to rip on so much) I am past caring what “Christians” or anyone else think of us. If they claim we are not Christians, it does not affect the relationship that we have with deity. They are the reason we were driven out of the states that we tried to peacefully dwell in and they are the reason that my great-grandfather died in the snow crossing the plains. They are the reason Joseph and Hyrum were murdered in cold blood. If the world doesn’t want to consider us “christian” than so be it.

...terminology seems to be a hinge point with those who claim exclusivity when it comes to following Christ and his teachings. These 'sound bites' galvanise those who need to find solace in an embedded acceptance of a lived Christian reality. Resorting to an historical perspective to claim that anything other than the accepted pathway to following Christ, merits culthood, demeans the message that essential Chritianity implies. The essential message is that the invitation to Come into Christ, will always be valid. Those who place limitations on such an invitation, will always find solace in justifying their claim by resorting to an ethos that just will not hold water under sound theological research.

As a member of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter day saints (Mormon) I appreciate this man and I believe he has a lot of good things to say and I am glad he is in the world performing his ministry. He mentions not "adding or taking away from Christ" less you deviate and enter a "cult". It is critical to note that Mormons believe the same thing. The thing he left out was we do not believe we are adding or taking away from the teachings of Christ, we believe some of His teachings/truths were taken away over the centuries and they are now RESTORED. Not added to, nor taken away from. TO BE EXTRA CLEAR, you may not agree that other current Christian Denominations are missing some of Christs teachings and therefore you might view the Book of Mormon as "adding" to Christs teachings. However, it should be noted, the reason there are so many Christian Denominations is for THIS VERY REASON, they do not all agree! They interpret the same bible differently and claim exclusive truths just like The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does. With that said, Mormons do NOT believe other Christian denominations are "unchristian" or in "cults". interestingly, if we applied the same reasons Ravi used to label Mormons, we would have to come away with the same labels for other denominations. Sadly, being attacked for our beliefs should be something to unite those who are simply doing their best to follow Jesus, instead some prefer to only focus on differences and shout they are more Christian than other Christians. I can only speak for myself, but it seems we should focus on our commonalities more than differences and the world would be a much better place and what is more Christian that that?
@Cuinn8375 жыл бұрын
Back in the 70's when I joined, Mormons refused to call themselves a denomination. They would be horrified if you called them one. They prided themselves in being separate from mainstream Christianity, and denigrated other churches all the time. I'm glad their attitude has changed, but considering their old attitudes they shouldn't be surprised when other churches refuse to accept them as Christians. They themselves began the separation.
@AmyDrewM5 жыл бұрын
@@Cuinn837 I've been a member since 1981 and I have never been horrified of being called a Christian Denomination. As you saw in my post above, we have different interpretations that take us away from some mainstream beliefs such as believing God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit are not the same person, but three distinct individuals, and while I would not say we "pride" ourselves on this distinction, as that can be a pejorative term, we do hold that belief with conviction. The same as we hold the belief that Christ is the savior of all mankind. As for "separation" I am not a Christian history buff, but I am pretty sure the many protestant churches that were around well before the Mormon church started many separations (and that is fine!) its called liberty and freedom of religion. Let men worship as they see fit. I am certain that some individuals denigrate other churches just as other individuals of other churches denigrate us. However, this line of thinking will never get us anywhere in finding common ground to be united against much more important challenges don't you think?

@@AmyDrewM I'm just remembering the way things were where I was in the 70's. My husband joined in the 60's and he said it was even worse then. One part of the bible that I love is how history shows it true and I try and read up on all knew discoveries. I was elated to study the dead sea scrolls found in Qumran which showed beyond any doubt that the old testament had not been corrupted as 1 Nephi chapter 13 said: "the loss of many plain and precious parts of the bible" had occurred. This is why Nephi said there was the need for "the restoration of the gospel, the coming forth of latter-day scripture". 1 Nephi 13: 26 says "after .. the twelve apostles of the Lamb, ... the formation of that great and abominable church, ... for behold, they have taken away from the gospel of the lamb many parts which are plain and most precious". The notes at the bottom say Nephi made this prophesy between 600 and 592 B.C. Then 1 Nephi 13:30 says: "because of these things which are taken away out of the gospel ... Satan hath great power over them". Then, 1 Nephi 14:3 says because of this "the devil... lead away the souls of men down to hell". But the dead sea scrolls proved this prophecy is false as the scrolls found in cave 1 show that the old testament we have is not corrupted like Nephi said. And the other caves have proven this also with more books of the old testament. Jesus said he was the "word" of God and was one with the Father (not a previous humanoid) as a false prophet would say. God bless you.

Ravi Zacharias mentioned an absolute truth: the atonement of Christ is sufficient. It's the ultimately sacrifice. Any other amendment to the atonement impugnates the Lord's role and thus a believe system, rituals, practices&polacies in connection with what is being added can't be truth or even part of the truth. Let's just remember that the holy ghost testifies of all truth. Great video!
@JacobGuenther4 жыл бұрын
I am a Later Day Saint and I agree that the atonement is sufficient. It is the only way back and there is no act of Kindness, no deed or ritual that can buy you forgiveness of sins. The word forgiveness says it all. If it was an exchange like money for food, a ritual in exchange for an escape of justice would not be forgiveness. So if forgiveness of sin is free how do we to get it? Repentance! We are so misunderstood. Even Ravi here in this video does himself an injustice by speaking so poorly of us, implying that we are a cult when we believe to be the very Church of Jesus Christ.

What I appreciate about Ravi is that the Spirit has blessed him with the capacity to speak the truth in love. He answered the question: they are a cult, but the word cult should be used carefully in public dialogue because of the baggage it carries outside of the technical, theological usage. The Gospel is naturally offensive enough--we need not go out of our way to alienate people beyond speaking the truth of Christ. My working definition of true Christianity is this: do they affirm the Nicene Creed and are their doctrines coherent with that creed? If so, they are Christians (if they truly believe it). Doctrines, whether correct or incorrect, do not provide nor void salvation through the grace and work of Christ. Doctrine informs our walk and view of God, but thanks be to Him that we do not need to possess perfect understanding to be saved--for who then could be?
@ThaMobstarr7 жыл бұрын
I also very much value Ravi's way of diplomatic speaking. He speaks with love and compassion. He is a big role model for me. But I have to ask you something. Sorry to be so direct, but what is your personal opinion of Mormons. Are they Christians? I mean the core teachings of the book of Mormon seem to violate the word of God. Humans becoming Gods, God having a wife, Jesus being the brother of Satan, etc. . I agree that the nicene creed gathers the essential belief of us Christians, but it is also written that we should not add, remove or alter anything of God's word. Adding a whole book (the book of Mormons) which is also in total contrast to what we learn in the bible, is a "deal breaker" for me. I cannot see them as Christians or brothers/sisters in Christ. They are spreading false teachings, a false gospel. And we as Christians need to be aware that we don't legitimise every teaching, just because they use the same book as we do.

I think you confused me with someone else. Even still, your comments regarding anime and other cultural productions would imply that nearly everything produced from the minds of man is Satanism. You really need to evaluate the Biblical justification for your claims, because frankly there aren't any. It demonstrates a lack of critical analysis and bandwagon mentality that have become so tragically stereotypical of American Christians. The study of all things can produce understanding about God and the human condition if done so with a mind of discernment rooted in Biblical truth.
@christianldove7 жыл бұрын
It is a very far stretch to equivocate engaging cultural and artistic production with idol worship. Further, it is a highly paradoxical perspective to have. In order to judge or discern such a thing, you must watch it to evaluate it. By your logic, to watch it is equivalent to idol worship. But then how do you know enough about it to judge it so, unless you watched it? Or are you taking some other idolatrous person's evaluation, who has watched it? But then why would you trust such a sinner's evaluation? If you aren't trusting someone else's word for it, and you haven't watched it yourself, then what is the basis for your judgment? Unless you have watched it, but then how would you justify doing such a thing if it is sinful just to watch? Do you observe the problem here? You are equating engaging with sinning, and moreover--in this case--you are equating it to idol worship. Frankly, I do not see any Biblical justification for this rationale of yours. Mentalities such as these smell strongly of the nit-picking Jews, who were completely missing the point of Christ in His own time. Within in context, I believe 1 Corinthians 10 applies more appropriately to this matter: "All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify." You could argue that watching these shows may not be advantageous or beneficial to the Christian, but then you would have to have watched some to have the basis for that claim. Personally, I have found that anime, like all forms of entertainment, reflects a great deal of information regarding the human condition and the human perceptions and interpretations of that condition. If you observe something with a discerning mind, all things can be valuable. The study of other religions, for example, is highly profitable to the believer in providing understand of others in need of salvation and how they think. All religions have some elements of truth, even though accompanied by incorrect understandings. Dividing between those is critical to the apologetic process. As Ravi did here: he found the common ground, and in doing so pointed people to the saving grace of Christ. Anime, in particular, if especially advantageous as an artistic outlet because it provides a great deal of insight into the Japanese worldview--a country desperately in need of Evangelism. As for Dragon Ball Z, it neither projects nor supports any specific religious worldview. It borrows elements from a number of them, including Christianity. The matter of God is not a direct or even remote matter engaged by that story, but rather the human struggle against evil and the temptations of power. Major recurring themes include evil, grace, repentance, redemption, and sacrifice--especially for villainous characters. Does it provide the solution? No, but it gets people thinking about the problems.

+Christian Dove Thanks for your comments. I just didn't want to engage in an argument over whether Christians should enjoy anything in this life. I just don't want to spend my energy on debating with someone on the internet, especially if that someone seems to think that we can't enjoy any kind of entertainment besides Jesus movies. I feel like you have to talk about this stuff in person. We would just throw arguments in the infamous KZbin comment section, accusing each other of not being "proper" Christians. But I am already here so here are my two cents. Kodili seems to know a good deal about anime, at least about Dragonball Z, otherwise I don't expect anyone to recognise my profile picture. I conclude that Kodili seems to have some kind of grudge against the Japanese anime entertainment industry in particular. Did you know that there are even animes which have nothing to do with supernatural things? And do you also judge books like Lord of the Rings or Narnia which both were written by outspoken Christians and contain a great deal of supernatural elements and Northern mythology? I feel like anime often is often treated with a double standard because it is a "foreign" kind of entertainment for many people outside of Asia. Batman, Superman, Spiderman? No problem, let's discuss the newest comics. Son Goku, Naruto, Luffy? Nah, that's worship of satan, you best confess. There are a lot of things in life which can easily become idols, like money, sex, sports, books - anything that becomes more important in your life than God. Is anime (or any other idol) more important in my life than God? That is the real question and the one that we should ask ourselves. Let me be clear. I don't have a problem with people disliking animes. I don't even dislike it, if someone would tell me why he thinks that it is not good for Christians. But I really dislike it, if people generalise something and give it the stamp of "satanic worship". Every Christian has to decide for themselve what may be good for his faith or not. I can totally understand it, if some Christians don't want to watch anime because they don't want to risk doing anything "dangerous" to their faith. I am cool with that. But I am just not cool with being told that one's personal opinion is the one absolute, righteous Christian way. Btw, I have my own limits, too. I don't want to watch the TV series Supernatural or Game of Thrones because the first one shows a trivialised version of anything (+ a lot of satanic rituals in my opinion). And the latter simply shows too much nudity and explicitly sexual content for me. So am I telling Christians that they can't watch those shows? No. Why? Because they can decide for themselves what is good for their faith and what is not. Am I against giving Christian's advice about what may be good for their faith and what is not? No. But it is about how you talk about it.
@christianldove7 жыл бұрын
I concur. The problem is that few Christians seem to possess the sufficiently developed rationalizing capacities to objectively evaluate and present their convictions. I get particularly frustrated when that unfounded drivel is propelled in a haughty way. At the end of the day, nearly all cultural productions could be grouped within the matter of meat sacrificed to idols. You need to act according to your conscience, but you must also realize that your conscience and the conscience of others may not be equally disturbed by the same things due to your backgrounds and spiritual development.

So, people before you laugh at or about someone, go, see, and pray whatever is not your common field of spiritual expertise, and God will faithfully give you His opinion! Besides, Ravi Zachariah has received a standing ovation at Mormon Tabernacle. This shows how much humility in listening to others, openhearted and minded the members of LDS Church are. Um Maria perhaps you have never known the way that people are treated when they start asking questions about the Mormon faith...they and their family members are ostracized until they either get back in line or leave the church. If they leave, that is when the real attacks start. They (Mormons) are only loving and kind as long as their people are following blindly, not asking questions, and proselytizing. I have seen this for myself. The one thing that sets The Way apart from all other religions is that the Creator invites people to ask questions of HIM and to test all teachings to HIM. He has NOTHING to fear because HE IS the TRUTH. One thing to keep in mind, just because people act a certain way outwardly does not mean they are doing the will of Elohim, remember the Pharisees and Saducees looked like they were doing good outwardly to men, but Messiah judged them and called them white-washed tombs, which look beautiful outside but within are full of dead men's bones and all manner of corruption.

That's an over simplistic response. Surely every nation that has been on the earth has had scripture written before their existing leaders. Do you think the people in Moses' time would be expected to pay more attention to previous scripture than to Moses himself? No... God calls prophets to preach and always will.
@lukehales50234 жыл бұрын
It is always easier to believe in dead prophets than living ones. But I think one of the messages of the Bible is that the living prophet is the most important: previous scripture would not have sufficed in Noah's day...they needed Noah and the instruction for building the ark. Moses for his day. Elijah for his day. And when Jesus came most of the Jewish faith had been corrupted by religious leaders that claimed to believe in the dead prophets but rejected the living ones: John the Baptist and Jesus himself. And so it is today, that there are many denominations and beliefs clinging to a book of the writings of dead prophets but denying the possibility of living prophets...why? When that has always been God's way of working. We need living prophets today...and by prophet I mean men that have direct communication from God to communicate to us in these crazy times.

@@interpretingscripture8068 We Believe that Jesus is the Word and the authority to speak for him comes from him as he chose his ancient prophets and apostles to do so. The scriptures indicate this pattern. Christian apologists conclude that active revelation ended with Jesus. Paul spoke well after Jesus died as did the other apostles. The authority was lost when they were killed. Men took over the church and changed it according to their uninspired philosophies. Mainstream Christian scholars claim the scripture as their authority as I previously said. Sola scriptura is a philosophical apologetic declaration, not a scriptural mandate. The Bible wasn't put together to be a handbook to whoever thought they could convince others that it gave them the authority to speak for God. The reformation was an attempt to adapt the scriptures with greater purity than the Catholics. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a restoration of authority, the apostleship, and ordinances of the gospel to prepare the world for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Hi. First let me say that I am impressed with Ravi Zacharias and his knowledge and perspective on the LDS church. I am very happy that he got to speak in the LDS tabernacle. It would have been nice, also, if he had explained that he was not invited to preach to the LDS members but rather he was invited to speak to a gathering of both LDS leaders plus evangelical ministers in an LDS sponsored forum. Nevertheless, please let me put into prospective what the LDS church really believes. I believe in the Book of Mormon, but in order to actually have a testimony of the book I have to have a testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith. So I read the book, prayed fervently to Heavenly Father, and pondered. I really wanted to know if it was true. I was raised in the church and served a mission, got married in the Los Angeles temple, divorced, went inactive for many years. But I never had a burning in my heart that this was true until later in my life. I always knew it was true, just did not have the sought-after burning. But I did receive an answer to my prayers and once I got the testimony there is NOTHING that can change or sway it. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints IS the true church. Only those individuals that are truly looking for the truth will recognize it when they see it. Some or most of the people who responded to this KZbin video negatively about the LDS church will NEVER see the truth. Why? Simply because they have hardened their hearts. I don't, nor do ANY LDS member, do anything other than praise Joseph Smith. Come to our meetings if you want to see for yourselves. We don't worship him. He is the prophet of the Restoration. Smart and non-self-righteous individuals can see this pretty clearly. Those who claim we do are really stupid or deceptive or have some agenda. They don't know anything about the LDS church or they do and it is in their best interest to say bad things about the church and Joseph Smith. We praise God the father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Simple as that. Does it matter that evangelicals refer to "mormons" as non-Christians in the media? Not really. We are Christians in the true sense. We hold the Priesthood of God, not them. We are here to live our lives the best we can and to declare the Restored Gospel to the world. Those who are really interested will see this just like Joseph Smith did. Those who have hardened hearts won't but they forfeit great rewards in this life and more importantly The Next life because of this.
@BijinMCMXC6 жыл бұрын
fargokid71 Christians do not reject Mormonism because of a hardened heart, but because of a heart that is faithful to God and His holy word. His word, the Bible, is complete and he explicitly warns that no one is to add or subtract from it: Revelation 22:18-19, Proverbs 30:5-6, Deuteronomy 4:2. He warns against false prophets: Matthew 24:24, Galatians 1:6-9. To follow the teachings or testimony of Joseph Smith is to ignore the ultimate authority of God’s word and to place your faith in a man who came along thousands of years after the holy book was completed and falsely added to it. There is no such thing as the reformed gospel, there is only one legitimate gospel. Smith was a charlatan and false prophet. Research his sordid background in earnest and see that he deserves no praise and turn away from the LDS. There is neither truth or salvation there. It is you who are of hard heart; a heart hardened against the true word of God.

Based on your explanation If Revelations, then yes the Mormon book is false. If Proverbs, then every book after Proverbs, including Revelations and the Mormon book is false. If Deuteronomy then everything after Deuteronomy including Proverbs, Revelations and the Mormon book is false. It’s a dilemma that everyone using these passages of scripture to suggest that God stopped speaking to His Children, warning them not to add or subtract, forget about the chronology of events. It doesn’t make sense that He would use the same passage of scripture on 3 separate occasions, undermining and nullifying everything after. Or, maybe, just maybe He was telling us not to add or subtract to Revelations, Proverbs and Deuteronomy leaving the door open for future “Revelation (conversation)” with his children. Can you help me out here?

Arthur Pokere more important is “who is God?” and “who is Jesus?”. Mormon god is one god among many who progressed to godhood through obedience. And likewise Mormons believe they can become gods, “as man is, god once was, as god is, man may become”. Isa 43-45 are key chapters to read. 43:10 says before me no god was formed neither shall there be any after me. 44:6 I am the first and the last, besides me there is no god. Super important. Secondly, the Mormon Jesus is the spirit offspring of Elohim and one of his goddess wives, and Lucifer is his brother. The biblical Jesus is God the Son who was in the beginning and created all things including Lucifer. Read John 1:1-3,14, Col 1:16-17, Heb 1. These are the KEY issues to focus on. In conclusion, LDS believe in a Jesus that cannot save, there is hope only in the biblical Jesus. Hope that helps. God bless.

@@spilch980 There is no doctrinal evidence in the LDS faith that states God has more than one wife. Members of the LDS faith do believe in a Jesus that saves. The claim also appears on the jacket of his book, The Real Face of Atheism and a few of his books claim in the back cover that he was educated at Cambridge University. A Google search of [“Ravi Zacharias” “visiting scholar at Cambridge University”] reveals thousands of pages in which the claim is repeated. The claim is false as mentioned earlier, and Mr. Zacharias withdrew it shortly after we asked him for a response to our concern that he has misrepresented his Cambridge visiting scholar status. How do we know it is false? We contacted the University of Cambridge Office of External Affairs and Communications and asked whether Mr. Ravi Zacharias was ever a visiting scholar at their university. We were told in writing the following: 1. “We can confirm that Mr. Zacharias spent a sabbatical term at Ridley Hall in the city of Cambridge.” He was there for a mere 12 weeks (1 term). 2. “Ridley Hall is independent from Cambridge University and trains people for effective work in the Church of England”. 3. “Attending lectures and classes at the University of Cambridge whilst on sabbatical at Ridley Hall would not confer University of Cambridge Visiting Scholar status on a student. Ridley Hall is not and has never been a constituent part of the University of Cambridge and has different criteria for granting Visiting Scholar status.” 4. “All student and visitors to Ridley Hall know the difference between Ridley hall and Cambridge University and to equate this is plainly false.” Insofar as it is exclusively the province of the University of Cambridge to decide who constitutes a “visiting scholar” at their institution, we believe it to be established beyond dispute that Mr. Zacharias’ visiting scholar claim is false. We sincerely ask that you contact Cambridge University and Ridley Hall independently and verify this information.

RaidrWolf "None of that disproves what he said in the video." Of course not. The fact you or anyone else cannot personally explain why his claims are sound is what would disprove him. The fact is though we don't need to in this case. He's openly making excuses for a cult in public. This speech condemns him without anyone elses intervention. "Yours is the typical shoot the messenger tactic of ideological bankrupt Atheists." Oh, the irony. You deserve an award. Yet, all who disagree with you are tainted by Satan. Hypocrisy and the ad-hominem is the entire basis of religion and look how you don't even recognise it. You LIVE to point fingers and accuse... That's why so many who see you all online snivling are LEAVING. That's why I and many friends have left. "Considering the far greater harm that the lie of Atheism has caused, over a hundred million deaths, this oversight of Mr. Zacharias can be excused." More blatant cowardly dishonesty. How apt. Atheists have been on earth for the last 200 years at the most. If the church had mechanisation and automatic weapons, the Crusades and holy wars, Torquemada, Cathar genocides and ISIS would have accounted for far more murder. Your Bible even tells people to raze cities, kill women and children and take survivers for slaves and rape. How piss weak your accusations are when you are exposed. And let's go with your equivalence claim shall we? I suppose you are ok with being considered a child raping fraudster like so many of your pastors and church leaders are, yes? And those murdering scum (don't count the Lutheran German Reich) were degenerate people fueled by a belief in aggressively propagating communism for power. As all believers are degenerates, this is nothing to do with agnostic atheism as used by the growing group of people disgusted by hypocrisy and degeneracy of obedient and unthinking cult mentality. So no, it doesn't excuse Ravi when you use cowardly ad-hominem insinuations as a distractive ploy. And those were only ONE of the set of allegations he was investigated for.

@ I can only see a short notification of your post. My post was a RESPONSE to your fingerpointing, laying out the reasons it is disgustingly hypocritical. What an id!ot. Religion IS the act of pointing at others and declaring the as inferior using some magical excuse involving invisible beings who "know better than we". Cant you think at ALL for yourself? My FIRST POST was ONLY a pasting of the TEXT from the statements by people who have investigated ONE claim by Ravi about his education. There are more. Ravi LIED about his education and qualifications. YOU are trying to condone LYING in public and are using your cowardly association fallacy to do it. Pedophile fraudster.
@Dr-Curious5 жыл бұрын
@UCJMqh-LAHpFmalyzBV5Q7Mw "nd my response to you was to your finger pointing." NOPE. Your response (and the reason you say "you" instead of what I posted...) Was to a DOCUMENT written by people investigating a claim by Ravi. Ravi is using his credentials to support his reasoning. I didn't "fingerprint" by making false or subjective ad-hominems, I SIMPLY posted that one of his supporting devices WAS DISHONEST. "Is it ok if you finger point but not if I do? Your accusation of him lying doesn't disprove what he said. It doesn't even address what he said." It wasn't;t meant to for the SECOND time. It was meant to expose his LYING about his credentials. I'll tell youTHIS for the second time: He is defending a CULT. "Because you think he was lying about his credentials doesn't make what he said in the video is a lie." HILARIOUS. AGAIN: Point out where that was claimed. You are making ANOTHER false claim. As I ALREADY said, your INABILITY to support nor defend anything is all we need to see. Why don't you start thinking about what you are talking about? "You obviously don't know what shooting the messenger is or else you would know that that is all your complaint amounts to and doesn't disprove what he said in the video." You have never studied formal logic. Here's tip. Start doing so before you try to lecture. " And neither does your not liking what he said mean his claims are "unsound". That's your baseless opinion. All it amounts to is name-calling when you claim it's "unsound"." Publishing the findings of an investigation isn't name calling. Pretty obvious to someone with a brain. But here's an insult for you: You're a total jackass. "And my response to you is about contrasting supposed credentials lies to Atheist caused hundreds of millions dead, and those not even caused by war, but pure, brutal government totalitarianism against it's own unarmed, defenseless citizens. So you, according to your accusing me of approving of lying, are condoning the massacring of hundreds of millions of people. You need to get your priorities objectivity straight." Don't forget f*ckwit. You are an atheist to a few thousand gods too. Hahaha. OK pedophile fraudster, and genocide condoning, slave beating, murdering, owning advocate who wants everyone purged and mudred to get the world to himself. We get you're an intellectual coward who needs to use magic o feel better about his failures. Apparently, the word was total goodness before "Christian" atheism started. Right? (lets ignore the genocides in case your feelings get hurt) Hahah. Have a listen to yourself. You're unable to learn, terrified of thinking... You're mostly snivelling cowards, crying about how important and good you are, who cant take any back.

Having just come out of the cult of Mormonism after 43 years, I can vouch for the truthfulness of Ravi's words. The Mormons are masters of mind control. They exalt their first "prophet" to the status of deity, and practically worship their living "prophet" and "apostles". Jesus takes second fiddle to them. Oh, they use His name on their cult like a trademark, but they believe their works save them, in addition to the atonement of Christ. They teach a false gospel, a different gospel than the original.

mind control? I am a convert since 1973, I know what cognitive dissonance is and what mind control is, and I also know what my mind is able to accept as truth. Practically worship is not worshipping. J. Smiths life was seldom his own. Everyone will be resurrected, but not all will be exalted. If you understand His gospel and read the scriptures enough you'll realize that you have to be proactive to be considered his disciple, and you also have to be baptized. And without priesthood, those outward ordinances like baptism don't have any efficacy , no matter how revered the person is that baptized you, as men can't take on being an apostle or prophet on their own. The restored gospel of Christ is so powerful and answers so many questions and that book of mormon has the everylasting gospel of J. Christ in it, and that book is what forced me to deal with me knowing I should be baptized and from then on, my mind had knowledge poured into constantly as I read scriptures. I had a hard time as I had to find new friends after I turned to His gospel, but after a couple years I felt so comfortable. It's the bom that reinforces everything, so that the problems that rise up like the white salamander or the problem with blacks and priesthood is not problematic for me. I watch millenials leaving and realize for many of them their testimony is on hold, these that don't have their membership dropped obviously are not positive. And I want to say there are many intellectual that know much about jewish culture and they know that book had to come from somewhere, but it's much to sophisticated to have come forth from not only Smiths mind, but anyones mind. When you get away from prayer and attending meetings for a bit and listen to others, in this day, you can easily be led, and then say, they had control of my mind, I finally got out.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are not uncomfortable with celestial marriage, the Doctrine and Covenants or the Pearl of Great Price. We revere all that God has revealed and all that he will yet reveal through his chosen prophets. Adam God is not a doctrine of the Church. Christ's Atonement is infinite and eternal and covers the sins of all of humanity. In no way do "Mormons" teach or believe that Christ's sacrifice was "insufficient." We depart with "mainstream" Christianity when it comes to the unauthorized creeds that distorted the true nature of God and that blended the philosophies of men with the teachings of Christ. "Homoousios" for example, is a man-made concept from Greek mysticism and has nothing to do with the Gospel Christ taught. The Nicene Council (325 AD), where a corrupt political figure was allowed to influence church doctrine, shows how far the church had fallen from the true teachings and the genuine priesthood authority Christ and His apostles held. The practices of the church through the dark ages provide further evidence that the true church of Christ was no longer on the earth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a restoration of original Christianity. The teachings of the restored Church of Jesus Christ encompass the entirety of the Bible--not just a few verses that seemingly promise easy salvation. Jesus taught that faith in Him, repentance, baptism and obedience to His commandments are required in order to claim the saving grace of His Atonement. The Apostle Paul emphasized confessing the name of Christ and salvation by grace alone, because his Jewish audiences still believed salvation came through the works, rites and rituals of the Law of Moses. We cannot be saved without the grace of Christ, but we also cannot be saved if we deliberately sin and ignore the commandments that Jesus taught during His ministry. We cannot be saved if we ignore the sick, the afflicted and the poor among us: Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. May we all celebrate the life of Christ and strive to follow him in all that we do.

Constantine's personal beliefs were on the losing end of the council of Nicea. Constantine didn't convert to Orthodox/Catholic until later in his life. Also we have writings (in addition to the New Testament) that detail how the Christians celebrated and worshipped. These are from before Nicea by the way. Read them and you will see they were not practicing what members of the LDS faith community celebrate today. Does sin include adultery and bearing false witness?

Based upon your application of Matthew, I TOTALLY disagree with you. Doing works without faith is NOT following Jesus! Just where did you get that Christianty on the whole doesn't take care of the poor and needy? LDS is not the only branch of the Protestant from of Christianity, nor is it the only group that takes care of the less fortunate. You also mentioned Jews. Tell me, do Mormons still believe Jews are heritics? I remind you that Jesus was a Jew when he walked this earth, and some still think Christians should follow Torah law. Paul correctly stated confession of sin, repentance of sin, AND accepting Jesus as lord and savior are what's required, NOT going on multiple missions doing works alone! As for these "prophets", show me an actual copy of the golden discs that can actually be translated, then there may be something. Perhaps less disrespect of the non Mormon followers of Jesus, and an accurate portrayal of biblical doctrine are in order for you

So...if Christ's work is finished...why is Revelation mostly unfulfilled to this day? Semantics can be subtle. If you mean his sacrifice and resurrection is complete, then okay...but all his works are hardly finished or we would be in Celestial glory at this time. War would not exist. A lot of ambiguity in that statement. Obviously, men should not add or take away from the inspired word of God...but nowhere does in say in the Bible God cannot add or take from his own words. He is God after all. He uses prophets...many which are mentioned in the New Testament and Revelation...long after his own resurrection. How do you think we got the New Testament. Which by his inspiration...the apostles and others spoke and wrote the Word of God. For those who would use the statement incorrectly from Revelation, the same is written in Deuteronomy of the fifth book of Moses in the Old Testament. As well, it is likely some of the books of John in the New Testament were written after Revelation was written. Two prophets are mentioned to warn people with the word of God in Revelation in the last days. They have not yet spoken. Please...if you want to know the Word of God...Read it.
