This dear gentleman, Gail Halvorsen, passed on 2/16/22 at 101 years old. I believe he was rewarded with a long, fruitful life because of the generous act of what he did in Berlin. Rest in peace Colonel Halvorsen, thanks for your service.

From our seats in the orchestra, we could see many people weeping. Brother Halvorsen touched a lot of hearts that night including those of us on the stage.

Tom Brokaw wrote "The Greatest Generation" about those who served in WWII. What a wonderful tribute to one of those.

baby ruth candy was my favorite and I used to get candy from soldiers driving trucks and couldn't get through the tunnel and I was around 6 years old and would show them the other direction to get past the train tracks in Munich and now am 78 living in the US and married a B 24 pilot in charge of 300 men flying out of India

RIP Gail Halvorsen. You may think you only dropped candy, but you delivered hope to those who had little to nothing. You made the world and that's more valuable than anything money can ever buy. No one can ever take that away. I'm sure you're in a much better place now because of what you did. Thank you for everything you did.

I've always believed that in this life, you can only take one thing with you when you leave it..... You can only take what you gave.
