My husband went to heaven three years ago. He loved this hymn and always had tears rolling down his cheeks, but he did not know the story. I wish we had known it, and he always said he wanted this hymn sung at his funeral. It took me hours to find our CD with this hymn but late at night I found the CD with David Phelps singing! This Christmas (2024) will be the 8th Christmas without my sweet daughter, Rachel. She passed away in my arms just weeks before her 4th birthday from brain cancer. I begged the Lord that her death would not ruin me, would not ruin my family and-- most importantly-- would not make me hate Him. I didn't want to be separated from a truly great and benevolent God, if He was there. I wasn't sure by the time we had to sign the DNR. Her passing was more painful than I could have imagined, but also strangely filled with more peace, gratitude and witness of God than i ever knew possible.

My late kid brother died of a kidney complications. He was only 12 years old. The night before he died. He sang this song deeply and powerfully in tears as he struggled with life. He died in June of 2007. Rest in peace Ebuka

This is one of the most beautiful & uplifting experiences I have been fortunate enough to witness. After several years of sorrow & feeling empty & alone, I began to feel better & happier than I had felt in years since this summer. Today I happened upon this program w/ Hugh Bonneville as the narrator & the wonderful Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s uplifting voices singing the words to the song. But it was the addition of the acting out of the story of the family who lost so much, especially their dear children. Yet the parents faith & belief in God’s power to heal even the most hurting of hearts that moved me the most. I am learning this lesson of rising above the sorrow & tragedies of life one step at a time. I thank you for sharing this amazing story, the music & the voices of the Choir & Mr. Bonneville’s presence to tell the story so well! God bless you all!

I have come back to this version of "It Is Well, With My Soul" as sad news had reached my family and more is to come from it. We pray for a miracle but in the end God's Will Be Done. It brings such peace knowing whatever the outcome God will not leave us nor forsake us. I have peace without knowing the outcome. It keeps me calm while going through this journey at this time.

I was honored and blessed to be able to sing this requested hymn an my mother's funeral in 2015. My son accompanied me on the piano and joined me on the chorus for a duet. My mother was a wonderful example of loving, giving and serving family and friends. She served the Lord and lived to be over 93 years old. I miss her still, especially at Christmas. Growing up my grandmother's (mom's mom) birthday was December 24th. As long as I can remember as a teenager Mom always had bittersweet memories at Christmas. I knew the story behind the writing of the hymn; however this dramatization with music and narration was beautiful. I had no idea of the various examples of service and ministry the family had in later years...what a blessing they were.

I was born and raised in Southern Gospel music just like Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash . We knew all of the same friends in the industry . But I can say , I have never heard such a choir as '' The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square ! ''.

My choice is to follow Jesus Christ all the day of my life, asking that he guide me and teach me the best pathway for my life, that he keep a watch over me, protect from evil and grant me His peace. I lost my daughter at the age of 16. I miss her, as well as my mother, my grandparents, my aunts and uncles and others who have died. So I am eternally grateful that because of the Savior, we will be able to again embrace and rejoice with those we love and have lost. It truly is well with my soul.

My Dad's favourite hymn and he could sing it better than anyone I have ever heard. It was from his heart and he is there with his Saviour in Heaven now waiting for us all to follow the path he walked as our example. The story of the man that wrote the music for this song is also one of immense suffering.

I found this song soon after returning from my mission just in July of 2023. It immediately struck a chord with me. I and perhaps many who listen to this song find a special sense of the Spirit, Listening to this song today, Christmas Eve, gives the song a more touching light than ever before. Even though we may not think of this as a Christmas song, it truly encapsulates that beautiful Christmas spirit that we associate with the miracle of the Savior's birth, life, and resurrection.

This will be my tenth Christmas season since my wife Beth passed away. (Beth was a member of Tabernacle Choir for twenty years) It was my privilege to support her as she served in this calling. But the moment they began with the little girls' and their mother's visual reenactment, the father in me couldn't stop sobbing.
