Oh how I remember those days but we had the Surge milk pails and carried pails of milk to the milkhouse at one end of the barn about the same as yours is, meaning no pipeline. We didn't/couldn't have a gutter cleaner, (too many nooks and aisles to the side) so I filled the spreader nearly every day in the winter. Things have changed in the 6 decades but still a lot of hard work!

Just to go again, Love your attitude with the cows. Also noticed that Brent also has a lot of love for his cows. Probably could have gone to a hardware store and gotten some bolts that would work on the equipment. Glad the milk fever cow is doing good. And yeah, she has an attitude. Looked like the one cow was ticklish, the way she danced around when you were cleaning her udders.

I would milk for a week, when I would feed, feed the calves, help finish the milking string, then in the mornings I would wash down the holding carrel, when the milk barn. We had a 6 cow polar milk barn. Then we would eat, then roll about 250 bales of hay for that day.

Milking time is a peaceful time, unless the cow is kicking, 😀. Squatting is the conventional dairy barn’s woe, the farmer always ends up with bad knees. One farm I worked at culled slow milkers, the owner wanted an efficient herd. Thank you Taylor for sharing milking time.

Today's instant push button everything and your using a bucket that cost 5$ to replace vs ths of $ to push a button. Many old farmers looked at milking parlors and felt they would loose touch with their lady's. Keeping it simple may take muscles and time but no headaches over technology when it often fails. Progress = bankers becoming the boss. Keep it simple girl- Brent sure has great instinct with that skid steer- rick
