WW2 didn't bring about the rules to attempt to make war more humane. The Geneva Convention has been around since 1864. It was signed by the US in 1882. The fact that the US and other participants in WW2 flagrantly disregarded that to do atrocities like the firebombing of Dresden, does not in any way make similar atrocities OK now.

The rules of war were established to avoid pointless brutality on both sides, like killing each other's prisoners. In WWII, some or most of the German pilots followed a code. They wouldn't shoot parachutes. Himmler had a difficult time getting his soldiers to kill civilians. Some soldiers refused. They were transferred to other duties. This was observed more on the West front than the East front. It worked to everyone's benefit. German soldiers would surrender to Americans, but fight to the death against Soviets (and vice versa).

After reviewing the graphs, simply saying “total fatalities cut down by half” is a. completely wrong way to describe this, but also saying “that’s false! The numbers weren’t halved at all” is true, but misses the point of the initial point of the graph. The breakdown of how many children dead have been cut by roughly half. This DID not reduce the total fatalities, ONLY corrected for accuracy of the breakdown of deaths. I think the pro-israel people were trying to use this graph as a club to beat back the “+10,000 dead kids” headlines by showing this graph to counter that narrative, but leave out that the total fatality number still remains higher than before.

A similar thing happened with Israel. Originally reported as ~1400, later revised down to ~1200. It took several weeks to trace and confirm the identities of the dead. It turned out those 200 bodies were Hamas militants, many (or some) were very badly burned. Israel’s figures don’t typically distinguish between civilian and military casualties, but breakdowns are available online as released by Israeli authorities. Keep in mind that this investigation took several weeks. Imagine how long it would take to tally the count in Gaza.

This is really disgusting. I used to like seeing their show occasionally and I enjoyed a less conservative side of Joe since his marriage to Mika, but the lies and harsh criticism of human rights advocates who don't approve of the IDF have been maligned far too many times and both Joe and Mika know better than to call anyone in disagreement with the war and antisemite. They know protesters are based in their belief that committing atrocities across Gaza in the way that Nethanyahu and the IDF have done is the problem. They know we are simply disgusted by seeing children and babies innocently slaughtered in order to possibly get a member or two of Hamas is immoral and it's happening. This isn't just some exercise in watching our govt pay for another unnecessary war and needlessly complaining about it. It's billions of American tax payers that are forced to fund war crimes that we aren't willing to do quietly. The govt, the pro Israel side and the Jewish Americans crying antisemitism at every turn are doing so in order to muffle our actual voices and reasoning for these protests. It's disgusting. I looked up a post from Seinfeld's wife (I loved Jerry Seinfeld and his wife disgusts me while he disappoints me as well) where there are some of the most horrific vile comments coming from the pro war advocates who constantly justify this slaughter of mainly innocent children and civilians while screaming to anyone who will see it that they are the victims and Palestinians have zero sympathy from them. Honestly they are going on and on about how millions were raped, killed or kidnapped and burnt alive or in ovens or beheaded. I mean the gross exaggeration is unbelievable. It's so far from reality and the fear mongering for their own survival is over the top in ways I never thought possible. They really want us to believe if they were to come near a Palestinian or Arab they would all be murdered and wiped off the face of the earth. It's the most dramatic hyperbolic bunch of hysteria that I can't even feel one iota of serious concern for them. They are not in as much peril as they would tell us and it's time to just tell them to stop with the constant overreaction and use their heads before trying to convey these stories of horror to people who know exactly what they're doing. The victim hood is disgraceful and frankly it makes it hard to believe anything they say. Keep up the great work Krystal. Hopefully this comes to an end soon but every time I think we're possibly heading toward Biden taking the appropriate action and withholding the funding and weapons after proof of how awful the Israelis have handled the power given to them he goes ahead with another big payment and support to commit more criminal acts! I don't know why he doesn't take a stand because playing this phony both sides matter game isn't believed by anyone. He is going to continue to drop in polls until he calls out the facts behind this genocide and says no more. We're not going to stand by and pay for these war crimes is the only thing he has to say. There are always unhappy people on both sides of a war but to be on the side of the powerful bully rather than the underdog with no one to defend them is not hard to do. The anti Arab sentiment and racism is terrible in this country. The unwavering support of Israel is not going to be looked at kindly in the future. All of these people will be saying they didn't understand what the Israeli soldiers were doing and it isn't going to fly. It's been said by protesters, reporters on the ground in Gaza, and many credible reporters over there to witness this.
