I tried an activation with my mag loop and it was slow going. Did much better with my. Buddy pole as an L shaped vertical. Love you vids, get better all the time. At least you don't say you have to !make it quick because you don't have a lot of time😂. Keep up the good work!

The loop so reminds me of my half wave tuner, first I have to throw a combination of switches to put the correct parallel inductance into the circuit, then I tune the capacitor to make the LED go dim. Then I throw the switch from Tune to Operate which removes the circuit protection that keeps the SWR to 2:1 or less until resonance is achieved. I get about 15 KHz to tune around with a good VSWR. It works well for POTA QRP activations. Cheers, Davey --KU9L

Sounds like a similar tuning process. It’s nice having something that’s quick setup and you know will always tune. 73 my friend!

I have always enjoyed your videos. Wonderful radio therapy. What kind of tripod do you use and is it hard to get it to work with the Alex Loop? Lots of mods needed? Thanks. Bill KG4FXG
@w4arb8 ай бұрын
Thank you Bill! The tripod is a Vivitar VPT-1250. It’s the one that Alex recommended originally for it, and it holds the antenna with no mods. You just take the camera mount off and the antenna slides right over it. It’s kinda flimsy and light but it works just fine for me and fits in the bag with the loop. 73!

@@w4arb Much appreciated. Looking for ideas to run QRP rig off a 17 foot skyscraper in the city. Weather gets better I will have balcony access. 73 KG4FXG Bill

Thank you!! And I know! I wish I had enough time to write the captions out. It’s just very time consuming. I have thought about putting at least the callsigns on the screen. 73 and thx for watching!

Always great to watch your videos. Turn the loop toward Idaho sometime so I can contact you 🙂 Actually did try to contact your faint signal but QSB took you out. 73 Bob WB6TIS
