Just wanted to thank you for all your videos. I got dunked into the chinchilla world hard 3 months ago when my mom got me a Chinchilla (which I've never heard about or seen before). We're in Singapore, where the temperature's a constant 30+ and humidity's >70%, so my first priority was not to let this plump, overenergetic lil monster die, and your videos helped me so much with that. These days, my lil monster even grooms me during our daily grooming sessions. Thank you so much for helping me give my chin a good life.

Hi! I love your content, so I’m getting two chinchillas soon, and I wanted to know whether or not you think I should get aspen shavings, or a fleece liner? Or both. Does it matter at all, and what do you prefer?

I’ve had aspen shavings in the past and it works... but it’s very messy and will get everywhere. It’s also very expensive in the long run since you have to constantly buy more each month. It’s harder to keep their cage clean throughout the week since you can’t spot clean, like you can with fleece. Fleece is much cheaper and easier to keep clean in my opinion but you’ll have to be willing to wash them every week, it’s very easy to do. It’s all up to what you think is best. You can try aspen first and switch to fleece if you’re curious about both ☺️💕

You can have someone hold him and carefully trim away the mats with a pair of small scissors. Sometimes matting happens when chinchillas gets water or pee on their fur and it dries that way 💕

Do you use sand or dust with your chin , and do you use bedding or like a blanket or mat on the cage? Xx They can also effect a chinchillas fur, and some chinchillas have thicker fur which are more prone to matting x

@@luvjeonlee5301 ok x One of my chins fur gets matted easily so we’re always cautious with her, if your chin is calm and will sit still on your arm without sudden movement then maybe try trimming the mat from the roof or even at least a part of the mat, and hopefully with the fleece liners the fur won’t get stuff stuck on it or absorb any thing so it won’t get as matted x Good luck!

This will sound crazy, but I have 12 chinchillas. Some adapt to human interaction very quickly and are super friendly, while some took almost 2 years to be held calmly. And, it is not necessarily because they are frightened of me. They all interact with me and jump all over me when I let them run around. Some just do not seem to feel secure being restrained. There is also the fact that they are little bundles of energy that can't sit still for long. I have one that will come out for a minute or two and sprawl across my arm to be petted. But it is not too long before even she just wants to get down and run. But most of them took at least several months to become reasonably comfortable with me. Do not get discouraged after only 2 months. Just play with it on its terms My experience is that trying to rush things just makes it worse.
