Here we are…the final week. The week we’ve all been anticipating for a while, now here and having trouble accepting.
We’re back at Caltrain’s Lawrence Station in Sunnyvale, California, U.S.A. Starting around 6am, we’re here catching the morning rush, some express/Baby Bullet trains speeding by, but most importantly seeing Caltrain’s F40s and Nippon Sharyos in action on their final days before Caltrain’s Stadler KISS EMUs completely take over. This is part 2 of Caltrain's Final Days of the diesels.
Enjoy the meets, sounds and sights of Caltrain, both old and new here at Lawrence Station.
Hope you all enjoyed. Please make sure like, subscribe, favorite and share with others.

I like your videos, but people riding the line just want the line to be better, and electrifying does so. Railfanners arent really their priority

I'm not sure that "Final Days of the Diesels" is entirely accurate, as there will still be diesel service running to Gilroy. But it is still the end of an era, that's for sure...

@spottinbythebay From 19:46 to 21:38 I saw that local train from all the way back from Blossom Hill station oh and seeing a double header on Caltrain is rare and it is for almost all rail operators (except freight rail) yk.

One thing that most people are unaware of is the when the Nippon Shariyo Bi-level coaches were built. The cars were tested in Pueblo, Colorado and during a simulated crash test. The Nippon Shariyo coaches failed; meaning that most passenger on board would more than likely have died in a crash. That’s why the former Bi-level coaches are being sold to other countries.

@@lalakerspro They were first introduced by the Pullman Company back in the 1950s. Other operators later wanted their own models that wind up manufactured by other companies, such as Nippon Shariyo, when Pullman went defunct a decade later.

Honestly, nobody’s making you ride the EMU’s. If you dislike them so much you’ll have to wait for the Bombardier Coach trains to arrive, but I suspect that you’ll be late to work?

It’s not possible to find parts for the F40’s as they’ve been discontinued, also EMD no longer exists.

Lmao what a classic foamer response. EMUs' are way better for the average commute since they can accelerate much faster (meaning less journey time) and produce no carbon emissions compared to diesels.
