Any idea on where the retired f40’s will go? Will they be scrapped or preserved at museums?

It could be possible one or a few will be preserved at a museum. The California State Railroad Museum would be a great place to have one but I don't know if they have enough space.

Metrolink has historically been anti-electrification, and instead is focusing on improving rail service for the 2028 Olympics. The new timetable going into effect in October adds more off-peak trains, but they still have a long way to go.
