Thank you for your review! My wife's desk has notebooks all over that she sometimes has to carry for her meetings. I'm hoping the RM2 will lighten the load for her plus clear up some space on her desk, LOL.

The only reason I'm considering upgrading from the remarkable two is because I'm an engineering student and I just started taking classes like material science and physics 2 where oftentimes The professor denotes different things with different colors, and I find myself struggling a lot to quickly find an innovative way to differentiate on my remarkable 2

Remarkable 2 device is such a romantic feel to your hands , with not light on it and that writing feel !! Thats how I feel with RM2 to my hands !! I love to use it everyday!! As for RM pro ? I m waiting for it , but as I understood from all reviews that I watch , is a step forward for RM products ( a little color in my life is acceptable) and I believe that I will enjoy it a lot … and if not ? There is always a return choice in order to buy something else !! My opinion for Supernote (because I owned an A5X) I loved the writing feel but somehow I broke the nib 2 times and I found myself accidentally turning pages with my left hand when i wrote . Also I found myself enjoying writing more before putting a Feelwrite 2 film … Conclusion : I will stay with RM with one of their devices.. I trust them and I like it more !!

With the two devices side-by-side, it's clear the RPP struggles with grey tones, no doubt due to its limited shades of grey (only four I believe, compared to 16 on the RM2). In your planner, for instance, there appear to be grey features visible on the RM2 that are completely missing from the RPP. Has this been a problem for you, and are you planning to optimize the next version of your planner for the RPP?
@morningcoach2 ай бұрын
Yes, we are. We are going to have an RPP version Robert thanks for asking and I really appreciate the comment. We have to get the first one done which is late October. We’re making some major improvements and then will be moving onto specific devices and finally next year we’re gonna be launching modular planners for individual people.

Personally, because the software and how you can match the devices, I think you can keep it because of what you would get for it. You might be able to use it in another part of the house, etc. or as some of my friends are doing their giving it to their significant other. But again because of the software and you know you’re gonna be matching the same stuff on both devices, I can see how you might keep them both for the couple hundred bucks that you’re going to get on eBay or whatever if that makes sense

I wonder if the annoying refresh on color will be (can be) fixed in a future software release.
@morningcoach2 ай бұрын
I don’t think it can. It doesn’t bother me that bad. I think it’s the way the technology works. It has a refresh. They have to refresh it for the speed aspect from what I understand. That’s what Voya said. Honestly don’t use it much use the highlighter that’s primarily what I use which it works good for me. Not sure what the current tech if they can do much about it.

I was hoping the contrast would be better, even on the RM2 the contrast is good but could be better. The yellow tinge and yellow smearing after refresh is also a bit off putting. It's a nice device but not quite the same WOW factor as the RM2 was when it came out.

@@reida05 I know how you feel, I too had it in my basket but after a bit more research I'm having second thoughts. I'm not too excited about the dark blue instead of black ink, or the fact you get yellow smears/artefacts on page turns, or that it's largely slower because of the extra refreshing, or the reduced contrast, or the blue backlight with no warm option. I am also getting a bit frustrated with my reMarkable2's lack of full text search, inability to link between pages/documents, inability to export highlights or even just tagged pages, I also would've hoped for 300ppi resolution but it's still 227. I'm currently leaning towards waiting for the new upcoming SuperNote, sure there's no backlight or colour, but apparently very good contrast, resolution, performance and great notes search/organisation features.

@@DigiDriftZoneright now, my base level is a surface pro 8. I want something specifically for taking notes, annotating PDFs and PPTs, and using color but I'm not a fan of the writing on glass feeling. My writing is more legible on paper, but I'm determined to not carry notebooks or paper.

I saw your Remarkable Paper Pro Review, and I was disappointed that as a writer you didn’t share what it meant to do long writing projects on the RPP. Of course, we aren’t going to do revisions or collaboration on the RPP, but THE prospect for building that first draft of a monograph. As one of the few reviewers who use the type folio, I would quite like to learn that.
@morningcoach2 ай бұрын
That would rock I will look into that - I use Ulysses and my iPad (Mac) for structuring. I have never used the Rm or rMPP for long projects. I structure and then write on the Mac, iPad, Freewrite and last rMPP so it just a first draft for me. I copy and paste into Ulysses so I write with what I have with me and structure there. :) Thanks for that ask! It is kind of like the Freewrite just nice to type on then move into the structure.
@SyedShoaib2 ай бұрын
@@morningcoach Thanks. I have been a Ulysses user myself. But recently have discovered the type folio on RM2 to be a relatively distraction free writing environment. But I wonder if the larger real estate of RPP presents an advantage. Or if the relatively dull (less contrast) screen of RPP becomes somewhat uninspiring. Have been searching KZbin for those insights, but they do not exist (yet).

@@SyedShoaib Great discussion topic. I am going to have to experiment. I just haven't been using it except for base writing. I am not sure but let me work back to it. No - But I email the notes that I want searchable to Evenote which can search handwritten notes. Evernote has just introduced image-to-text conversion for iamges. I'm hoping that in the near future that it will do the same for images within PDFs as their OCR ability is much better than RM.

significant step down in readability. blue-black on drab gray. tepid, anemic front light, only bright enough to see in the dark. it doesn't bring up the contrast in modest lighting conditions. i think this device has narrow practical use cases that prioritize reading color PDFs and sketching in watercolor-washed-out pastels. maybe the comic book obsessed. it makes no sense as a primarily b&w device with so many compromises. buy a good desk lamp.
@morningcoach2 ай бұрын
Wow, you really hate it - I love it - as a primary planning device, I think it is fantastic. I don't sketch, or do anything remotely art worthy. Use the highlighter maybe once in awhile. That is what is great about tech, all about use case. Thanks Larry as always, hopefully, they will get something for you. It is funny I cannot even fathom using a BOOX device I hate their software, heck don't like Android at all. LOL so subjective. I wonder if there will ever be a major investment in this product category. I don't think, say, Apple will get in. There are probably less than 5 million units sold across everything. I mean, RM only sold 2 million. Hell, there are probably less than 3 million e-ink units today. There is no money for major tech. We will have to wait and see. Thanks, as always. Have a great week. I LOVE opposite thoughts here. I appreciate it. BTW I wonder what Supernote will come up with?
@larrymarso44922 ай бұрын
@@morningcoach yeah, i hate it. in fact your video does a much better job than others showing the difference between the screen readability on the RM2. you put them alongside each other in a typical lighting situation where I find the RMPP literally painful to use. like reading an old paperback on drab paper in poor light. just hurts the eyes, and brightening it with a desk lamp is difficult, you need a powerful bulb and put up with glare. i think this fails in the marketplace. they really botched the front light, which might have redeemed the hardware.
