Always appreciate your point of view and thanks for stopping by our livestream the other day. I agree with you that I don't see e-ink as a Primary device but would say that it could be, in some cases, the primary tablet. For me, I use the Supernote, my phone, and PC. I also use Obsidian with the Supernote Plug-in. It is so cool to see how people find their own version of productivity.

I agree with your points explained in the video. Personally, I have tried using the iPad Pro to plan days, record all notes, and journal on and off for over 5 years. The longest I lasted this way is about 3 weeks at a time. I don’t consistently use this device as a paper replacement because I ultimately think of the iPad as being a computer and when I want “computer-free” days (eg after work, on vacations/holidays, weekends), then it means I’m not checking my notes or journaling regularly. Also if I leave the notes app open with the screen on the entire day, then the battery drains to 20% by the end of the day. I occasionally went back to paper but when I did, I missed being able to search and tags notes. I find it a hassle to transfer some notes to new notebooks and once I store a full notebook, I don’t revisit it until it’s time to declutter or clean out the closet. All to say, I order my first e-ink notebook from Remarkable this month. I actually just became aware of and learned about this e-ink category very recently. I wish I knew about these e-ink notebooks years ago!

Here is my frustration with the Remarkable Paper Pro. As you say, it's not practical as a primary device, which makes the cost--upwards of $700 or even $800 with a folio--feel impractical as even a secondary device. I love the RM2, and would prefer the RMPP with higher resolution and backlight, but I simply can't bring myself to press the order button when the cost is hundreds more than Boox Go or potentially the new Supernote device. How do you justify the cost to yourself?
@morningcoach3 ай бұрын
SOLID comment - for me, these are business devices, so I consider them tools. It would be hard to justify if I wasn't a consultant/coach - ie.. business owner. However, as a business owner, the ROI is on efficiency and dollars produced via the tool. I get what you are saying. I budget computer and tech changes every 2 years, but I am not a start-up; I have been in business for 20 years. So have a different outlook on a lot of tech. If that makes sense. Thanks for the comment, and I can understand that for sure.
@Pegleg043 ай бұрын
@@morningcoach Yeah, I think that's reasonable. Quantifying a ROI for something like this is tricky, because part of the value is just liking the device and finding it fun to use, but I agree that it's pretty much necessary for it to provide a unique function in your work in order to feel good about the decision. Thanks, and I enjoy what you're putting out.

can you present a video regarding students at university use cases for your planner, Remarkable tablet, Plaude and the iPad? Would combing these systems be effective for studying? Most importantly, would the remarkable work for students having to retrieve past notes for studying?

I do believe with going for the combo IPad + Remarkable (Pro or 2). Boox devices does have flexibility with loading apps but then the premium apps available on Ipad does not work on Android. The pen support for most apps are not there on Android either. Two key points; 1. Boox could do better to simplify workflows, not just apps and 2. Remarkable could do better with integrations; for example, allow typing directly on google docs (I believe freewrite and drafts app allows this), I love the directory structure and tagging on the remarkable.
@marcojuliangrishaber2 ай бұрын
How do you integrate your remarkable with your PARA system? One point keeps me away from buying an RM is the missing of global search and the lack of sync to Apple Notes as far as I am aware of.
@morningcoach2 ай бұрын
I will do a video on this, but I do numbers - and then use PARA - 1 - 4 works great and keeps me very organized. I also have Apple Notes and Google Notes in PARA format, and no the device is SOLO I don't mix and match - I currently only use my RmPP as my planner so it is very limited with notes. My primary short and base notes are in Apple, and long notes years of notes in Google. ReMarkable is 100% planning and organization - and I use it as such like an old Covey Planner and it is very effective, life is amazing :) Keeps everything nice and simple. iPad and Computer for everything other then planning.

I entered the e-ink market about 2 weeks ago when i bought RM2. I dont own a iPad/tablet. The color of RMPP is nice, but it seems more like a subpar tablet than a distinct notetaking/reader e-ink device. If i needed color and a front light to the point of accepting something that was bigger than RM2, thicker, and heavier then I probably would have gone with an actual tablet.
@morningcoach3 ай бұрын
I think that is a good call, I am going back to my rM2 a lot more, I like the size and what I use it for planning and notes. I do like the rMPP but the rM2 is still one of my favs - nothing wrong with it.

Well said. That's the problem that I have with most of the Boox devices. With the exception of the Go10.3, it seems like they're trying to become the "best of both worlds", something they will never achieve. Either try and become the best PAPER REPLACEMENT (rM or Supernote) or the best "Computer on the Go" Replacement (iPad or Tab....or even an iPhone !!). However I truly believe that RATTA and REMARKABLE have a lot of work to do, especially when it comes to breaking down the barriers between some software aimed at making Note-taking easier (Word, for example)...and THAT'S where a Boox Go 10.3, for example, excels.
@morningcoach3 ай бұрын
I agree - that is what makes it so hard with these devices, they have a long way to go to be a "tablet".... thanks for the comment

Excuse my ignorance but what is the ipad in the showcase? 13 inch ipad air 2024?
@morningcoach3 ай бұрын
Yes, I use the 13 inch iPad M4. It’s a little over kill but is an amazing device. The hardware is unbelievable if they could just catch up the software, it literally could be a computer, but they handicap it because they don’t wanna cannibalize their Mac sales..
@Vortexstreet3 ай бұрын
@@morningcoach Thank you for your replay! I was just interested to see the size difference. You are the first reviewer I've seen had a side-by-side comparison between RMPP and 13 inch ipad. So they have almost the same size in form factor but RMPP has a smaller screen display because of the wide white chin at the bottom. I realize screen size is what I care the most after using RM2 and RMPP. I do not own an ipad but if I were to buy one, 13inch is what I need I think.

I use a Kindle Scribe in conjunction with an iPad, not as a replacement. The Scribe is used for reading at night and making journal notes in bed. On the Scribe I can read black and white Kindle books or uploaded pdfs; and I can take notes on a surface which is nicer to write on than an iPad. Also I sleep better if I avoid using an iPad at night. But the Scribe could never fully replace my iPad for several reasons - I have a good collection of Kindle, Apple and Kobo art books with loads of colour illustrations and images. They look awful on the Kindle Scribe, and I suppose also on a Remarkable PP. As well, I have a nice collection of quality fountain pens, and I try to write each day with one of them. I chuckle when I think of an e-ink device trying to be a replacement for the joy of a fountain pen on quality paper. For what it does, the Kindle Scribe is excellent. But it (and probably the Remarkable) shouldn’t be compared to the mighty iPad.

I have a Boox Go 10.3 and use it alongside my Samsung Tab S8 Ultra. The Go is an excellent reader, and I also use it to annotate pdfs. Its hard to justify spending double the money on the RMPP just for color but then being limited on what apps can be used. Also, I disagree that Boox devices are anywhere near as complicated as people make them out to be! The ability to download certain apps just makes life so much easier, for eg I study arabic language so having a english to arabic dictionary on it means I dont need to use my phone when working, plus the Go 10.3 has a great writing feel too. I won't be gettting rid of my Tab S8 anytime soon though

Yep - that was a point of the video, but the problem is a lot of people buy these devices and expect them to be iPads… 1000% not even close especially the hardware in the M4 if Apple would get it together and allow us to put put a little little better OS on it it could be a computer…

At the end you sum it up and say buy both devices and then use third party tools for note taking. Like come on, this is not efficient.
