Luke and Brian are back in studio to react to a huge weekend in MMA. First, the guys recap to UFC 303 which ended with Alex Pereira completing the short turnaround with a brutal KO of Jiri Prochazka. Poatan's legacy through 9 UFC fights is unique and largely unmatched. If it's not black magic, what is it that makes him so special compared to his contemporaries? Dan Ige literally goes from couch to Octagon in 4 hours to save UFC 303 co-main event. Let's try and put this into words: How insane is what Ige just did? Also the guys recap the weekend in boxing as Teofimo Lopez wins and 'Bam' Rodriguez plows JFE. Luke and Brian are also joined live by UFC welterweight Gilbert Burns!

@Mordian_57
@Mordian_57 3 ай бұрын
I love Luke and I love Studio Ghibli, but I have my gripes with how he always gets so fucking pretentious over these things. I guarantee you had anyone brought up the name Hayao Miyazaki 3 weeks ago in a discussion about great movie directors then Luke would have been absolutely dismissive of him, especially after being told he's an anime director, he would've probably ridiculed and completely shit on him. But now he watched some HBO documentary, where he got told that these movies are art and suddenly he pretends that that's the one and only viable opinion one could possibly have on this topic. Note a few things: He said he watched that documentary BEFORE he actually watched any Ghibli movies. He did not discover these movies on his own, he only went into them after being already told that they are oh-so-great pieces of art. See also how his strongest argument upon BC's pushback is "Read all the art critics' reviews of these movies!". Luke on his own apparently can't even tell you why these movies are great, he needs to hear it from other people first and then just parrots what they say. It leads to the question: Had he watched a Miyazaki movie with no prior knowledge, would he even have recognized it for the art it is or would he have just shrugged it off as some random Japanese kid movie? It would be so much more authentic if Luke had told something like "Oh I watched this Japanese animation with my daughter, not knowing anything about it, and while watching I realized how fucking brilliant this movie was. So then the next few nights I just continued to watch all other movies by that director, and all I can say is I really feel this is true art. And when I eventually found out that even real art critics agree, and this director is actually highly acclaimed in the movie world, I felt really validated for liking his work so much." But no. That's not how it works. Luke Thomas just watches someone on HBO construct that argument, copies that opinion and then walks around like it's his own. Just like he struts around nowadays telling everyone that his all-time favourite movies are the Kurosawa movies, even though he only learned about Kurosawa from Every Frame a Painting on KZbin a couple years ago (he said so in his live chat at that time) and had never even seen a Kurosawa movie until that point. By the way, there's nothing wrong with learning about stuff through KZbin or through documentaries or reading what critics have to say and taking their word of wisdom as inspiration for forming your own opinion. But what brings my piss to a boil with Luke in particular is how he then he gets all on his high horse and insists that everybody who doesn't immediately and 100% share his newly acquired opinion or who offers even the slightest bit of pushback is some type of uncultured boorish fool. Like how he puts on this attitude of utter incredulousness that BC does not immediately agree with him when he himself a few days ago had no idea who Miyazaki was. Sorry for the absolute wall of text. If you made it all the way here, I wish you a great day and hope you have an awesome rest of the week!

Nah, y'all need to replay the full video of the bull 🐂 the full video has footage of the bull in the "arena" (idk what they call it) while Proud to be an American plays loud in the back. Then the bull jumps into the audience like Khabib and begins his reign of terror.

Luke telling BC to ignore the haters and BC being ignorant and dismissive of Ghibi films. I guess we all have our blind spots.

Now hold up I'm not a giant fan of Gary either but he keeps winning and all I hear is people criticizing him. I think he can legitimately beat anybody in the top five. He's really long and scared and we just need to see him against the top tier guys

I'm really not feeling the weekly guests at all. So many shows are based around interviews, one of the reasons I liked morning kombat was because you rarely did it and it was just luke and brian. If I wanted to hear a fighter being asked questions I'd watch the mma hour.

I'm a bit disappointed by these two. First of all Poatan has never said he wants the move to heavy weight now! In fact he said he wants to continue defending the 205 belt. I know that and many of us do and we're not journalists making money out this . These two used to be a little different than sensationalists

UFC fans saying this card was better than the original was total cope. These short notice sparring matches on PPV come nowhere close to a proper fight card where they have a chance to prepare.

Agreed. This card was hot garbage, even the main event, to my eyes at least was terrible except the finish, jiri was not ready, massively over matched, all the short notice fights were rubbish. Wish I had waited and just watched the finish gifs on Reddit.

100%. On top of the bad fights, a Conor fight is one of the view things that can make normies care and they were denied that. Much like bc tho I am a boxing hardcore…

Jiri vs Alex or Connor vs Chandler is a no brainer, the card was weak cos of Conner being on it, too late to beef it up after he pulled out
