One of two level crossings located within the town of Morpeth, Northumberland, this one is located next to an industrial area on a no-through road which leads to a small residential area. It has three tracks as one is a 'passing loop' which is used to hold slower trains out of the way of faster ones, and it's located right next to a road junction on one side. Additionally, this level crossing is also provided with a halogen white flashing light, which points towards a now fenced-off inlet / driveway as a means of providing additional warning of the level crossing being active without using a full extra set of wigwag lights. However, this only flashes until the barriers are lowered and the alarms stop, and it illuminates steady when the amber lights show, only flashing with the reds. Telephones also allow users to contact the nearby signal box where this level crossing is controlled from.

What is the white light there for? I know at some level crossings it’s used to signal Train users that the crossing is activated but it Facing the direction of the drive way

It's meant to provide visual warning of the crossing lowering to users of that driveway, though as the driveway is now blocked off it's mainly just 'in situ'.

It’s something to provide warning for the least used driveway when the barriers lower. (Something like that)

Thanks, JP! Indeed, it's just a little extra warning of the crossing activating for that side inlet. It's just still in situ even though said driveway is blocked off now
