Those are some gorgeous normals man, I agree 100% about the importance of line breeding and the need for quality normal females in any collection. That last normal male is phenomenal, I would love to put him to a super dark leopard or high quality black pastel, I think he has something going on besides just the normal genetics. He's at the very least a great dinker. I've been line breeding leopard for a long term project and I produced and almost back leopard, even though I've invested a lot into some really nice recessives the super dark, single gene leopard I have is still one of my favorite snakes I have.

Hey Benjamin are you sure that baby isn't a yellow belly, it looks like one. The only slight difference is the pattern on the belly goes all the way through, usually on yellow bellies and asphalt its only on the sides but I produced yellow bellies that look like the snake in this video. I guess everything started with normals if you think about it. Either way that's a really nice looking snake.
@BenjaminsExotics3 жыл бұрын
@ eddie julian, The pairing that made that animal was a Coral Glow to Cinnamon, so unless there is something else floating around I don't have any reason to believe it is another mutation. We are breeding both of those animals again this year so if anything similar pops out I will definitely be doing a video on it.

Normals are very underrated. I don't have any, but would like to get one that's on the dark side. Preferably a female. Who knows what genes normals carry until they're bred. I remember when the clown morph first evolved---it was thought to be an incubation fault (temperature fluctuation). Instead it tuned out to be a recessive. (Jan Griffiths).
@dexterlecter72892 жыл бұрын
I have considered keeping het pied around in my line breeding for the pattern reductions. I absolutey do not like clown as it's an ugly color gene BUT I've considered keeping het clowns floating around because ironically the hets seem brighter, unlike thier homozygous counterparts.
@dexterlecter72892 жыл бұрын
Also it's funny how many people don't realize the pattern reduction of het pieds, they only know about the tracks.

Ok now I'm a little late to the party. I've questions. I've 2 normal males 2 very total different looks. 1 is the "typical normal" much like the first one you showed. But then my other its sides mimics the normal but the belly looks like train tracks, like you described a "HET" look. And then the dorsal is 90% blank of spots or blots whichever you want to say. Then to add to that he is black, I mean black, black but with brown aliens. But once again no connection of heads from one side to the other via blotches. What say you this is? I've been looking into "genetic black back" which isn't a gene but a description. Wish I could upload a picture for you to see.

Thanks for making this video. My neighbor gave me a Ball Python, because his nephew decided that he didn't want it after having it for about a week. I've been searching BooTube for videos about Ball Pythons, and have learned quite a bit in the last 2 months. I wasn't sure if Alice (Cooper) was a normal Ball Python, or not after watching a video by Chris Hardwick. He was showing different morphs, and a couple of them looked a lot like Alice. I forgot the names of the breed/morphs. I think it was Lessor, and another name, but they didn't look much different than Alice, so I was on a Mission to find out what breed/morph, or what type of Ball Python Alice is. He's a Norm. 😉 Anyways, Thanks again for making, and sharing this video. I'm Subscribed. 👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿🇺🇲🇮🇱🇺🇲🤘🏿🤘🏾🤘🏽🤘🏼

@@BenjaminsExotics No worries mate. At least I know where to go if I have any questions. I do have one question. When I first got Alice he was in the midst of shedding. His head was mostly finished, but he still had dead skin around his eyes. I did some research, and found a couple ways to help him. I read somewhere that if the skin stays on his eyes too long that it could effect his vision. I'm not sure if it did, but I have noticed that he won't go after the thawed frozen mice unless I wiggle them with a plastic utensil. Otherwise he will slither up to, and over the mouse. He's let a mouse sit in his home a week. I finally took it out, and gave him a fresh one. That was when I discovered that he would only go after it when I moved it. I know (like a doctor) that you would most likely have to see Alice to figure out if he has vision problems, or if he just likes what appears to be live food, but would you have any idea why he only eats when his food moves? Sorry to write an Autobiography of Alice. I'm just a concerned new snake owner. Thanks. 😎

Weird question, can you create new morphs by breeding just normals
@BenjaminsExotics3 жыл бұрын
@Sean H, It depends on what you mean by new morphs. Most morphs in Ball Pythons are genetic mutations, which are genes that mutated to change the color and pattern of the snakes scales. This is an entirely random event, and even though it is very rare, it is possible that a new morph could mutate between a breeding of two Normal Ball Pythons in captivity. You could also try line breeding for specific traits in Normal Ball Pythons, like reduced or banded animals, and if your line breeding proved to be genetic over several generations, that could also be considered the creation of a new morph as well.
@seanh33553 жыл бұрын
@@BenjaminsExotics yeah, like for example the Normal ball python you got from the coral glow cinnamon clutch from the video, he looks like a normal, and isn’t a cinnamon or coral glow but looks a little different, so that where I got the idea from, like there’s something a little different about him, and could be a new morph if his offspring look like him
