Almost 20 years of pizza experience here. Tom, the wood thing you're using is called a pizza paddle. A paddle is used to build a pizza on, and place into an oven. You referred to it as a peel, which is a different tool - typically a large thin metal spatula used to remove pizza from an oven. Next time, put your semolina (or bread crumbs, or corn meal) on the paddle, then build the pizza on the paddle. Give it a little shake side to side, and it should slip effortlessly into your oven without the awkward transfer from cutting board to paddle. Cheers bud!

Morpheus ASMR No, you don't have to use the metal one to remove. It's just a good solution for high volume restaurant environments to remove a large amount of pizzas quickly and easily from larger ovens.

Thanks. It's a good thing the deli guy mentioned they had pepperoni. I never had that version before. I grew up with those pepperoni sticks and my father loved those too. We would fight over the end piece. We would just cut off a chunk and eat it with a slice of bread in the other hand.

cool. Been making my own pizza dough and cooking them at home for 20yrs. better than 99% of the pizzas in the market imo as I’ve been able to perfect it exactly to my taste.
