In my opinion, the Zeus is one of the - if not the - best made ships in the entire game so far. Not only that it's damn beautiful but also how it was built in the inside... Logical, no waste of space, the MFDs are placed senseful in front of the struts, so they don't block the sight, the ladder down in the front, the storage, the landing lights... I could go on but you get the point. So damn well done, CIG, great job!!!

Well, I get what You are saying, however, the airlock ladder, or entire room is not as good as is should. Same goes for cargo bay, the C1 has ramp, and doors, which work as airlock. ZEUS dont. I still like it, and have the MR, hope it will be out soon :D

I find that underwhelming, almost makes me lose my interest in getting the ES variant (roleplaying reasons). I just can't imagine a long range expedition in it - it at least should have had a sofa and table in the living habitat, for a crew to sit around on a long quantum jump :D

I love RSI design language. Sleek, angular and sharp, without having any edge lord vibe that most other sharp designs have in other games. The Zeus mk2 feels like what a proper starter should be. Nice entry/exit, two guns, classic simple shape, has a few rooms so you can enjoy an interior, bed for ship logging, can take a few other people along either sitting, but having actual options for them to theoretically do mechanics, alright cargo capacity so you can see how it works but not huge, one smaller turret.
@The_Opinion_of_Matt2 ай бұрын
I pledged for the ES at last year's Citizen Con. I weighed the ES or the CL and decided I didn't need the extra cargo of the CL because I have a LTI Concept Hull B that I'm waiting for. Anyway, I popped into the PTU yesterday and walked around and looked at my ES. I haven't had the time to take it out yet, but just walking around it I was reminded of another ship: the Aegis Dynamics Avenger Titan, which I also have. The Zeus Mk2 ES is like a multi-crew version of the Avenger Titan. A cockpit, living quarters, and a cargo bay that isn't very big but seems just right anyway.
@robopenguin55012 ай бұрын
Ah yes a fellow space shuttle enjoyer
@wild_lee_coyote2 ай бұрын
The problem with the Zeus CL is the awkward cargo bay. It actually has 3 cargo grids, the main one that is 3 high 5 wide and 8 long, and 2 on the sides that are 2 high 1 wide and 2 long. Because of the odd numbers you are looking at a lot of small 2 scu boxes. The ceiling is very close to the top of the grid making stacking more difficult. The narrow ramp means you have to stack the sides first, and it limits the vehicles you can load to ROC or smaller. When full of cargo the ramp cannot be used as an exit point since the cargo,completely blocks it off, meaning you have to exit the ship to unload manually. Finally the tractor beam arm needs to be adjusted to pull boxes in closer. There tends to be a lot of banging into the ship with cargo to get it through the opening and into proper position. And because you are dealing with a lot of small boxes, loading can be a chore. The cargo deck is the one thing that lets down the design, especially when you have the Freelancer Max with its wide open cargo ramp that can fit an Ursa.
@AlexanderLeister2 ай бұрын
It's pretty and well designed but I can't get over it that the airlock vents the whole compartment instead of being a seperate area with two doors like in the RAFT (which has still, in my opinion, the best designed and most realistic interior layout of all the smaller ships).

I see the release of this beautiful ship while driving around in my dump truck Freelancer, wondering when it and my other antiques are going to get their much-needed upgrades. My favorite ships seem to be the underdogs, I've found. The Avenger Titan is my favorite, even if it's just a starter ship with little to offer in the massive system. My Ion is a train wreck, but it's so pretty, I have to fly it just 'cause. My Freelancer is an ancient hunk of metal that's falling apart and I wouldn't trade it for anything. And my Vanguard Warden looks like an old retired bodybuilder that used to grace the pages of Men's Fitness, but has lost his time in the spotlight and now resorts to odd infomercials. They're nothing special, but they're mine. One day I hope to see the love many of these newer ships have upon release, given to them so they may have a just a minute more of their old glory.

I love when your reviews come out! I finally got to test fly it, and it's definitely built with a lot of detail. I almost felt like you had a hand in its design, solidifying many of the principles you've advocated for over the years. They absolutely need to implement this in other ships to balance out the fleet, sooner rather than later. I have the ES currently, I feel it’ll be a great ship to solo pilot and will go along nicely with the other ships in my hangar. o7

A good review and glad I picked up the whole Zeus line. My only critique is instead of a ladder I would have lifted and taken the Connie's front personnel elevator for two and put in up there instead. Have it in the hallway so I could use it to bring up spare/replacement components as well as crew. Then in the spot by the ladder I would have put a chair and engineering console. Sure it could be done from the front seat too, but if you have a guest or just want the engineer next to the components (and fire extinguisher) it would be handy to have them a touch closer.

On the parts behind transparent materials, I would be willing to argue that it's more than just an embellishment, the configuration allows you to potentially see problems between check cycles and before the onboard system might detect a fault. For instance: A clear view of the fuel tank would allow you to see leakages dripping if it's for fluid, or condensation if it's something cryogenic. Hydraulics you can see the leaking fluids. The clear missile feeds are so you can identify jams and errors quickly, some issues you could simply reverse the feed and retry or yank out a damaged missile, but other cases doing so would be dangerous, being able to look down and potentially identify an easy fix instantly is EXTREMELY useful in a fight. Thinking about it two of those systems (fuel and hydraulics) function primarily through variable pressures that trend toward the higher end while in use, meaning visual inspections of them running could be extremely dangerous without the coverage if there was damage.

Hey morph, long time sub here and just thought i might give a little feedback on this one. I just checked back to a few of your reviews to see what the difference was but idk it felt like this video took a little long to get into the meat and potatoes. I could 1000% be wrong but I imagine most people are more interested in the interior than the exterior so to see that the first half of the video barely even peeked at the interior it made the flow seem off. It seems like in the past it used to start with what felt like a literal tour of the ship and for reasons I can't exactly quantify I didn't really get that same feeling of a premium ship tour that I used to feel within 1-2mins in of your older ship tours. This could definitely just be me maybe getting used to the format but i thought id mention it. Love the content morph, keep it up!

Great to see another Architect Reviews video on such a solid design. Regarding the ES habitation areas, I saw another video that mentioned the bunks are also designed as Escape pods (with visible blow off panels on the exterior) - for whenever that long awaited feature to materialize. So this may have impacted on the placement issue you had issue with. My thought on that couch, besides being overly stiff, is that it faces nothing - as usual for CIG. Needs a big screen or holographic projector for a reason to actually sit there.

The only thing I hate is that the CL, a cargo ship, fits 128 SCU but not in the form of 4 32 SCU containers. No shipping company would want to use this logistical nightmare. Which makes me wish even more, CIG would give the C1 an additional entrance and let it store a third container in the center of the cargo hold for a total of 96 SCU. Then the two ships would be really interesting competitors: do you want a third more cargo capacity or faster loading/unloading? Remember: a cargo hauler only makes money while its moving!

Few mistakes... 1. CL have 3 shields, not 4, that only the ES have. 2. the price of concept was already 150$, so looking at the SPIRIT price increase and the SRV upon release i would expect at least 170$ for the ES/CL prices. 3. the 3 months period to become available ingame is kinda hit and miss, some ships took almost a year to get released to purchase ingame, like the Vulture and Lynx recently. Id expect at least 2 MAJOR patchs as a proper expectation to have it ingame. One noticeable thing, you cant enter with the CL loaded from the back ramp, its completely FULL of boxes, also you cant work on components in the cargo bay while loaded. I personally find the C1 to be a better solo ship for now, less components, straight up corridor, full firepower on the hands of the pilot, exchangable missile rack sizes from 2xS4 up to 16xS1 missiles. Both ROC capable, none Ursa capable. IDK, Zeus is cool, not convinced of the hype yet. Sure the ladder and docking port are very useful... Crusader hates entrances/exits as it seems.

I’m a fan of multiple entrances and the general layout of the ship. From an fps perspective, you get seamless access from the inside to the outside world and visa versa. My only criticism is the layout of the cargo space. I had hoped for a version similar to the C1, just 4 x 32 SCU instead of 2 × 32 SCU. That would have made for fast loading/unloading, an important feature for a cargo ship. Instead we got a very mixed layout, where you need a lot of different container sizes to utilize the cargo space to it's maximum capacity. Apart from that it is the best designed ship in the game.

The extra ladder and door alone make this an easy choice for me. Although this surely doesnt have the possibility of increasing its cargo amount like on the C1, where it can be greatly increased by cramming crates into the walkway in the cargo area. Well, doesnt really matter either, since the CL already holds more than the C1 while still being able to enter and exit the ship, too. :D

CIG gets a round of applause for this design. A near perfect multi-mission spaceship that is more weighted to civilian use. No wasted space, stuffed with well considered features, and a fantastic design style. It's probably CIG's best ship so far.

I've lost pretty much all confidence in seeing many of my ships actually release BUT, I still like watching architect reviews of the ships :) Keep up the good work, hopefully your channel pushes them towards a viable real product in the future.

Ignored all Zeus video till now because I know this one will be the best. Thank you for this great review. Now I'm looking even more forward to the next update. ❤

yeah I always wanted morph to review this ship since when it revealed last year

Every time they improve I shudder to think of the tech debt they create. The Spirit is one of my favourites, but this looks like a more polished ship of that class. Awesome video!

Definitely been wanting for your review on this one. Been liking the lines but I agree on the excess greebling.

One thing I noticed was that when the Zeus gets damaged the sinks run and fill up. I lawn darted into Hurston at full speed and amazingly the ship survived but did take damage. When I walked around it to check out and damage effects I noticed both the kitchen and bathroom sinks running with water in them.

Thanks Morph. A few things... the ES comes with more shields and a larger radar. CL comes with 3x size 2 shields and ES with 4x size 2 shields and one large (size 3) radar.

Nice review - as always, very detailed, also probably a good ship.

For the cl i would have made the loading ramp larger it is difficult to load anything larger than an 8 scu box

some minor criticism: imo the constant jumping between variants is really confusing, and lets say i was interested in one version in particular, i would have to watch the whole video to get an idea of it's layout. it'd be much more "ergonomic" to just go through one variant, have a timestamp for that and then go through the other afterwards and just mention what the first version had in place of the altered version. it's not a real problem for me but i could see a lot of people have a problem with it so i tought i'd just mention it. other than that, great quality video as always. stoked to see more! :)

HI Morph. Love your videos. Relating things within the game back to a discipline in real life only serves to add to the immersion of the game and your videos do this in spades for ship design. So thank you. I totally agree with you about the craft improving as the project moves forward but I think the Zeus has made a sudden and abnormally large leap forward. This ship is incredibly compact for what she is which leads me to wonder if a recent decision in something affecting components (how many and how big) has yielded much more precise metrics which design can now fully take advantage of (instead of having to leave room for all the *what ifs*). Oh, and the Zeus is perfect for a medium hangar in my opinion but that's only because I like to put her down at one end with the ladder right next to the ASOP / item bank area and the ramp extending down to the threshold of the freight elevator. Strangely, I can stick this landing nearly every time in first person because something else I noticed, and I definitely can't say this for the Mercury or the Constellation, is that the size ***feels*** right ... in the sense of knowing where the extremities of the ship are located relative to the pilot's frame of reference. Maybe this is just me but the Zeus is one of the few Star Citizen ships that don't look smaller than she is; and that makes flying her in tight quarters much more enjoyable. I particularly look forward to seeing your video about the Galaxy and the Expanse when they come out. 👍🍻

This really hammers home how much the C1 needs a second egress point with the option to fill that center corridor for 96 SCU.

Picked up an MR last year with LTI when they were announced seeing a tour of the ship really has me stoked now, just a beautiful ship all around. I don't really understand why the MR is the only variant with the extra turret though, I feel like having the 2 turrets to give each co pilot something to do during combat for all 3 would help give the ship some more survivability. I feel that wouldn't be too hard of an ask considering all 3 variants still have enough going for them that it wouldn't detract from the MR.

Finally a ship that is built as if a manufacturer cares about not wasting space and materials. I bought the Zeus as soon as I saw the concept. The first ship I've bought since my Cutty 5 years ago.

For a ship so well thought through it's a shame the loading and unloading in the cargo variant didn't receive that foresight. Sure you got access to 128 scu of space but what good is that if you can't easily accessing it.

The Zeus is a very pretty ship that doesn't have the usual problems with weird placement of things like clustered components or big empty rooms wasting space. I really hope this style is taken in for the Orion when that ship becomes available.

I am probably going to upgrade my C1 to a CL. Because 1) It has a front ladder. 2) Better cockpit view. 3) more cargo capacity. 4) Smaller wingspan; it just seems like the C1 is a bigger ship but has less cargo capacity than a Freelancer Base.
