Yeah they really got their priorities right wasting money on big stars when they could've saved millions using just as good non famous ones. Plus how tedious is this intro? Does it ever end? This game REALLY likes the sound of it's own voice. I hope for the backers it comes out. Not as much a calamity as Shenmue 3 but those character models which once looked amazing are really showing their age.

@@Onthehorizonwthgng noy forced just my opinion. Plus this is supposed to be a gameplay reveal and shows mostly you sat there shooting highlighted objects. The length of this intro is yet another example where there's no one to say no to Chris Roberts. Just like the feature that's happened over the last decade. Throwing everything in. Creating huge ships to sell to the gullible to create more income. Sometimes less is more. If you were an initial backer you deserve so much better.

Actually when I pledged I bought two starter packages. My daughter was 8 at the time and I got her into it by flying her around so she could shop at the different landing zones. She loved the paper doll inventory, though she was and still is unhappy about the number of female clothes and hairstyles! Soon she was flying around doing missions to pay for said shopping, then she got big into PVP and now she is at the Air Force Academy learning to be a pilot... Some would say that is sad due to how long it has been. I look at it as hundreds of hours of quality time together and helping her define who she wants to be, for $80.00. Not sure there is another game out there that could have provided that.

Ya I noticed some people are shitting on the narrative/dialogue but personally I am ALL FOR a "classic sci-fi" story that just does good guys vs bad guys with some campy dialogue here and there. Just heroes and villains. Everything tries so hard to have the "dark truths of society" or the "everyone is shades of good and evil". It's honestly refreshing to just have a good ol sci-fi/fantasy narrative pop-up again. What's funny is it might actually be because this game is a byproduct of the time it was originally conceived. Who knows if this is the story they would of chosen TODAY, but it incidentally feels fresh because it's a story that was conceived over 10 years ago lol.

Hollowed out and rotting. Rampant insubordination and poor quality staffing. Same with the Japanese SDF post WWII. @@grahortarg9933 wow, most games are "level of tech demo" with this kind of generalization. With this kind of generalization, you can even say GTA 5 didn't have anything going for it other than the new water physics which was the only impressive thing about RAGE's iteration. You could even say RDR2 was simply additions of PBR+volumetric clouds and the rest of the features aren't necessarily even additions to RAGE but programmed states like carrying a living object, then some kind of check for collisions to "throw them away" and let Euphoria handle ragdoll like it already did in GTA 4. Even then, NONE of these games introduced any new gameplay loop and most of the gameplay you did was travel point A to point B, and the only fast travel you had was just several campsites to pad the whole game so you don't skip the rest of the game by fast travelling. It's basically a tech demo with some gameplay mechanics that are already present in other games with some physics flair and then some. Yet people loved it. Because that's not the whole f**king picture. You think you're smarter than everyone else for mentioning the obvious.

How many epic games got so close to being great only to be shoved out the door to satisfy quarterly profits. It's insane when you think about it. While they're definitely doing some extreme culling; Every ship (some 100s of meters in size) have fully modelled and detailed interiors with NPCs. The planet in the background is fully generated with dense flora, fauna, settlements/cities, etc. The background clouds are fully volumetric and traversable. And it all started with just 5 devs in a basement. No wonder this has taken a decade to build.

@@elise3455 I don't know. There's CLEARLY been huge mismanagement or something. Scope creep (documented and definitely part of it) and constantly focusing on the microtransactions which has to eat tons of development time. That albeit, does keep the development alive. @@jonny-b4954 Chris asked the community if they were fine with the expansion of the scope of the game back in 2016. A vast majority of people voted yes. He also offered refunds at the time. Ever since then, all of the disclaimers on their website has made this very clear to everyone - that this was now a live service game, and it will never stop development. Chris still doesn't think the game is ready for the average person, which is why it isn't 'released' however the release criteria were published alongside the gameplay you see in the video above, so they do have a target and a roadmap. Also the ship team is made up of like 20 people what "microtransactions which has to eat tons of development time" are you talking about lol. CIG has thousands of employees globally, 20 people isn't killing development time.

The first 3 years were really building a company and studios. Development didn't really get started until about 3 to 4 years in. @@k1mfor Right, well, as a back since 2012, they haven't ever claimed that squadron was done. If you have actually been following closely you can see the point last year where they declared that the game was feature complete (for the first time) and that they'd be announcing a release date soon. That's exactly what has come to pass. If you're talking about star citizen, that really doesn't have anything to do with this trailer. Judging by your opinion, it seems like you're the one who doesn't pay to close attention to what is actually coming out of CIG and you just listen to the nonsense that people toss around because things aren't going how they specifically expected. As far as I'm concerned, they have always been very transparent about the challenges they have been facing toward achieving a complete game and the qualifiers for completion that they have been working on.
