Great to see someone young appreciating and looking after a vintage Moggy Minor. But don't rest your foot on the clutch pedal between shifts, even slight pressure can cause slippage and excess wear on the poor girl's clutch. 😉
@KingTriangleCat2 жыл бұрын
Yes of course, I understand that resting your foot on the clutch pedal puts unnecessary wear on the clutch and accelerates wear, can't remember what I was doing in the video but I tend to have a habit of hovering my foot above the pedal (But not touching of course) when accelerating until I'm in top gear. Don't worry, but thanks for your comment. Cheers.

That must be about the same age as mine going by the Banjo steering wheel and clap-hands wipers.

One more tip, if you have it jacked up on stands at both ends, let the rear down first so you've got a brake in operation when you let down the heavy end.

Thanks for the tip David, I’ll do that next time I need the car up on jack stands. That’ll likely be when it needs brake adjustment. Cheers.

Loving the original plates on your Morrie! rare to see these days.

I love the plates too! In my opinion they look way cooler than the newer style black text on white background plates.

@@KingTriangleCat By the looks of it I am guessing Tauranga way Waikato area? When I bring my Traveler up (when I have finished rebuilding her) I'd be keen to catch up for a drive and a coffee.

@@sifibuckle You would be correct, I'm in Tauranga. I'd love to see your traveller when its done. Are you part of the Morris minor club by any chance?
@sifibuckle2 жыл бұрын
@@KingTriangleCat no, not part of a club ATM. I used to be part of the Waikato club back in the 80's and in Wellington in the late 90's. My car is at least 12 months away from being drivable. The picture is the back of it.

Hi, did you ever do anything about the fuel pump clicking / Knocking just would what options are out there for moggies
@KingTriangleCat5 ай бұрын
Hi there, I ended up replacing it with a modern solid state diaphragm pump - a direct replacement for the original SU pump. It was $100 well spent. Someone had put the wrong type of pump in my morris before me, the fuel pressure was too high for the carb and would overflow in traffic. Cheers

So you just use standard New Zealand 91 in it? Not 95?
@KingTriangleCat Жыл бұрын
Yes just regular 91 in NZ works fine, the cheapest variety. I believe it's about $2.32 at the moment where I am. I have heard some people adding some sort of fuel engine additive every time they fuel up in their minors but I'm not sure if it makes a difference.
@rewis3d Жыл бұрын
@@KingTriangleCat Wow, I never would have guessed that. Have you compared the 91 with 95? Where do you get your MM parts from? Repco?
@KingTriangleCat Жыл бұрын
@@rewis3d No I haven't tried 95, don't imagine it would make a difference but who knows and HELL NO do not get parts from Repco unless you're desperate. I get my new parts from Hankswood classic car parts in Auckland, they carry just about everything. Otherwise there are various parts on trademe (new and used). Also get parts from people in the Morris Minor club, I have imported some parts from the UK only when it makes sense to do it. Getting parts for the MM is easy as, easier than modern cars perhaps haha. There is even a "MM R us" in Rotorua otherwise there are a few places that sell mini parts and some parts fit. Mostly motor parts.

What tires did you fit? Size and brand?
@KingTriangleCat2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, they are ‘Goodride 175/70R14’ radial. I believe they were about $110NZD per tyre. They were the cheapest set at the shop. If I recall from memory correctly, you can only put up to a 165 on the rim. The guy at the shop insisted that these would fit. (And they do) Cheers.

@@KingTriangleCat Do you not find they 'balloon' out at the sidewalls? I have LP917 4.5J van rims (rather than the standard 3.5J) on my 1970 Minor Traveller with 165/70R14s, and they bulge out a little, and make the steering a bit heavy for parking.
