I would say keep him going. As I said Some years ago I had a similar issue. I managed to get a half decent engine and put that in and then I was able to get hold of another that was not great but was fit to be rebuilt at a local moter factors for a lot less than buying a recon.I recon it would make for some good content as you slowly resurrect George. The great thing is you do have the skills to do it. Have you thought of starting a go fund me for George lots of people I feel sure would love to help you out .Or maybe set up a buy me a coffee link. Good luck with what ever you decide.

Im a lawyer from Srilanka. A car lover. Pls. Keep him running. Give him a good restoration . It will run like. Old days . I'm from Srilanka. There are cars restored here by old car lovers ,which had been in. Worst conditions than this. Restoring the engine wouldn't be that difficult. A paint and replacing platinums , plugs, it's coil and condenser, plug wires, ,then checking electrical wiring. Replacing battery and tires are the main things. Change gear box oil, diff oil and engine oil would do at first I suppose. There after it can be painted.Good luck.

I've never been a huge fan of Morris Minors being into sidevalve Fords but I do have a lot of mechanical empathy for any piece of machinery, including this car. Logic says cut your losses and scrap it, but logic has no real place in the classic car world. If you were to go down that route, it's a decision I suspect you would regret for the rest of your life, but I can't see you doing that. The car is repairable and I believe that's what you'll do. I wish you well and good luck as you do it, and bring the car back on the road in better shape than before.

I really would not get rid of him. Remember, "the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know!" You could so easily buy a load of even more trouble. George may have problems but nothing that cannot be fixed. My first priority would be to find where all that oil came out of the engine. It may have been a leak that got on the fan which made such a mess. The oil loss has no doubt led to the seizure. If you can drop the sump and have a look how much damage there is to the big ends then make a decision with the facts to hand. As others have said here, you could source a replacement engine which would tide you over while sorting George's engine. Someone has even offered you a motor, very kind. Whatever you decide, I hope all goes well.

The Battle is already half WON you got george home from a motorway in the middle of no where. i have a tomos motorbike and a spare engine if it seized i could swap the engine in one day, if you need a volenteer to assist you i know nofolk hemsby and caister on sea, I often consider changing out the 803cc engine on my 1956 mogg for a newer engine as the oil filter is a Pain it takes an hour to remove the oil filter check the dashpot then replace the draconian oil filter, if you do not keep george on the Road, That would be a crime against Mogg, humanity
