Fun fact: Morris is based on a Chinese mythological creature named Di Jiang. It is also known as the manifestation of chaos. I have to say that Marvel did their homework to bring it to life.

When you need to please the Chinese market place, you'll do your homework. But too bad for Scandinavians, since they apparently don't bring in a lot of cash for the MCU, so the MCU couldn't care less about respecting their culture and histoy, hence why we got mockery and a parody of how Ragnarök is described in Voluspa.

Marvel bringing to life Chinese Mythological creatures you don't usually see in big western live-action productions DiJiang's (Morris), Fenghuang's (Phoenix looking birds), Huli Jing's (Nine tail foxes), Shishi (Guardian Lion's - Foo Dogs), Qilin (Half dragons/half horses) and of course, Chinese Dragons, but we've seen them in a lot of stuff.

Thanks, Captain O., I see you can read internet articles, which is most likely where you got to know this. However, I fail to see the point in trying to be "authentic" toward Chinese iconography all of a sudden. Shang-Chi is a MARVEL superhero character, not a Wuxia book. Where was all of this clamoring for cultural authenticity with Scandinavian mythology in Thor-related MCU product? Where was Jormugandr in Thor Ragnarok? Why was Hela a video game boss with unlimited weapons instead of half-dead corpse living in the melancholic underworld? Where were two wolfs guarding Odin? Why was there no winter in Asgard to alert the. coming of Ragnarök? Why wasn't Loki leading legions of the dead toward the aesir's realm? Could it be that all this pandering is happening only to appease a certaint country that brings in a lot of money to the MCU? Nah, can't be...

i agree. i appreciate the fact that they also use practical effects and do whatever they can to make it look and feel real. even if they have to push themselves and take more time to get it right. i just wish the academy would honor them as i feel like they've been slighted in favor of something else.

I think they could do better in some areas. Spider-man too often is clearly a cgi model for no discernible reason and their green screen backdrops are hit or miss

I really like the siblings on dragon back, not the usual couples/lovers saving the day together as in many other stories. The family characters and relationships in the movie were wonderful.

This is so interesting. I've always wanted to know how they pulled off such a vibrant and realistic touch to all those mythical creatures. That itself made this movie stand out from all the other marvel movies ever made. Fun fact: The Mandarin in the comics (and in TV shows) wears ten alien rings on his fingers. In this film, the rings were revised to be Hung Gar iron rings worn on the forearms (five on each arm). These rings are traditionally used in martial arts training to strengthen the arms/fists.
