Always thought the "celibacy" thing was a marketing gimmick. It helped to amp up his whole fey persona, and provided a good cover for being homosexual (which was a potential career risk). Could be totally wrong of course.

I was celibate for years and I recognize some of the characteristics in Morrissey. I think he started to loosen up a few years after this though.

I think it is a weird circumstance of him not eating meat due to the abundance of food choices we have in modern society. Man is natural hunter and vegetarian are basically crap hunters, he suffers depression his whole life which is a symptom of malnourishment, I know for a fact that vegans suffer from mental deficiencies and most go back to eating eggs, milk or meat after a few years unless they want to die of starvation. Let’s imagine morrissey started to eat plenty meat for a few months I bet a million he would be more upbeat and a happier version but I guess that’s not what he wants atm or what the dark side wants him to know.
