Morrissey is a hilarious national treasure. His "yeses" and especially his "noooooooees" are uttered with so much confidence and conviction. I still can't quite come to terms with the fact that his great humour flies way above so many peoples' heads.

Dermot (desperately trying to portray himself as an adoring fan): "Never meet your heroes people!" Morrissey dispels his bullshit so easily with his two word reply, cutting through all the pretence and falseness with two sweetly spoken words, the simple, but deadly accurate: "You haven't!" Just a different class of minds! Like Morrissey puts it, both men could be considered "famous" by today's standards, it's just Morrissey doesn't bask in the media circus, appearing everywhere he can at every opportunity. Morrissey's renown was born of his sheer skill as a songwriter, or more accurately, as a poet... From Davey, a musician, and writer, from Éire (Ireland)...

There's been no such person as Morrissey since 1990. Everything since then has just been him waiting for that monumental mind-flattening down to pass. And if he reads this, he'd be the first to thumb it up.

dermot can't be much of a fan, as the smiths were from the 1980s whereas his 4pm saturday 'indie disco' fails to acknowledge any of this music outside of the tabloid-ish 90s era.

I love Morrissey because he is just so honest and down to earth (down to earth is a trait of Northern folk). He stands strong and unshakable in his beliefs which is so admirable and refreshing. Dermot sounds really, really slimy, dumb and creepy. Declan is in effect well and truly cornered by an astoundingly articulate genius. Declan you are a tit. Morrissey 100 - Declan 0

It's always interesting when somebody as banal as O'Leary comes up against the truculence of a Morrissey. Yes he's probably 'rude' in this interview but then O'Leary's claiming to be a fan yet didn't even know that he curated Meltdown. Like Grundy meeting the Sex Pistols it reminds one just how anodyne 99% of the media is.

Where do your brothers live now, Ireland? If they were born in the UK, but moved back at 3 or 4, then it makes sense that they don't feel English. Of course it's very common for Irish people to hate English people. I just think it becomes absurd in Dermot's situation where England allowed his parents to immigrate, and he has loved there all his life. I like Ireland when I visit, but it doesn't feel like home. It feels like someone else's home, and if Dermot was honest he'd probably say the same
@DaveUndertaker12 жыл бұрын
Because not everybody likes to be subjugated by somebody simply because of who their father impregnated? It's an outdated concept. I can understand there being a monarchy in 1066 but in 2012 it's fucking pathetic.

I love the way Morrissey says he hated making a greatest hits album, but managed to do it for the MONEY. Why did Dermot ask him which song he wanted him to pay? They all sound the same. I'm amazed he doesn't get punched in the face every-time he goes out. Can't wait for him to be named in the Jimmy Savile investigation.

zJoking asides I am 58 and I have sung in many bands into most kinds of music but when I herd the smiths what a load of crap what a sad tit. Then he got reasonably famous and he fuckn started to piss me off after years hearing him droning on I though maybe im missing something so I went on a quest to study this band and there music I gave it about 6 months all the songs vid's of them and this is a person that get into a song straight away well maybe 3 4 times listening to a song. I am a happy person and my pints always half full coming to my conclusion a long painful end I came to my decision on the SMITHS that they are CRAP
