This interviewer is completely lovely. She’s so earnest and thoughtful. In contrast to the enormity of Moz’s ego, though I undeniably love his singing.

@@asukas666 How is he racist?? Because some newspaper misquoted what he said?? Also, his comments against the Chinese were basically PRO animal rights and back in the 90's he was merely defending freedom of speech. He wasn't actually agreeing with the far right. Believe what you will, Morrissey is and will always be a great and original artist, in a world of mediocrity.

The man is obviously intelligent, thoughtful and a witty conversationalist. More so than many in his profession. Such manners, even with nervous and sometimes star-struck young interviewers. More the "charming man" than the "clever swine".

Probably his weakest album , only 2 stand out tracks , but he remains more interesting than other rock/pop stars. His previous album “You are the quarry” was his strongest but he’s made some good stuff since. Generally his LPs haven’t been as strong as The Smiths albums. But he’s still worth a listen & always will be.

The lyrics mean that if you don't open yourself up to anyone then there will be no way for anyone to get inside your heart. You will feel empty. But when you meet someone and surprisingly connect, they get in and maybe they break your heart and "kill you" (feels like dying). But you will live, it just sucks and feels painful. He writes this experience with such economy and it really hits home for me - that's why it's brilliant!

People make way too much of Morrissey...the Smith's were great but Morrissey a an artist doesn't come even close to Bowie. And the claim that he's a lyrical genius always befuddles me ..yes he had moments of genius especially with the Smith's..but the Majority of his lyrics are just boring and repetitive themes..
