The world really does seem a bit darker now Melanie has left us. This is a great cover . RIP Melanie.

This is a fitting song to cover because Morrissey has inspired tremendous love as well as the worst hatred. Even during The Smiths, there were some people who just hated him desperately.

Some say I got devil Some say I got angel But I'm just a girl in trouble I don't think I'm in danger Don't think I'm in danger No, I know I'm not in danger But some have tried to sell me All kinds of things to save me From hurting like a woman, and crying like a baby Something like a woman, crying like a baby And all the things that I have seen Qualify me for a part in your dream Qualify me for this dream And though I'd like to tell it Exactly how I feel it Somehow the music Hides it and conceals it Hides it and conceals it Oh, it hides And all the things that I have seen Can be hidden in a part of my dream Gonna hide it in my dream Some say I've got devil Some say I got angel But I'm just this girl in trouble I don't think I'm in danger No I'm not in danger No, I know I'm not in danger

yes a dramatic open end.. lyrically at least 😀 like the muddying musical maelstrom in the middle of M‘s melody that makes space for the dust to settle in the second half and this man‘s concluding certainty

Wow didn't expect that !!! That voice is amazing, it really is . I think Moz can sing anything, the 4 new songs I'm liking, couple of I really love are...... Morning Starship and Lady Willpower, there is another song by Gary Puckett & The Union Gap and me and my Mam love this song and I grew up to this music. Anyway sorry I started yakking on, it was 'Young Girl' Love this song, but I really like Lady Willpower. also i'm a big fan of Roy Orbison and i got goosebumps when i 1st heard 'Its Over, as you know Roy Orbison's voice is one of a kind and you stayed loyal to the song, whilst still making it yours too. I also liked the female singer, LP i saw, it worked really well that. I don't know of her so will check her out. Most of your covers though i don't know the songs themselves apart from Its Over i think . Hey Moz , im not sure if you read these comments

…. it would be nice to acknowledge the original writer of this emotionally charged song … Melanie Safka … certainly worth a listen …. personally I think Melanie's is more raw and real…. but this is a good version too

Definitely a different take. Morrissey's instrumentation is the depth in this version. Melanie gave that plaintive angst in her voice. I'd love to hear Adele sing it. 💚

I really dig the latter half of California Sun. Didn't know how I felt about the album at first but suffer little children, wedding bell blues, Loneliness Remembers what Happiness Forgets, Lady Willpower, When You Close Your Eyes, and this cover are all really cool. I'm not the least bit unhappy with California Son. Maybe not his finest release but a cool experimental album for him.

At least you should give credit to Melanie Safka who wrote and first sang this half a century ago. And she sang it a lot better. This version I find somehow weird, perhaps merely because it's sung by a man. It's odd that he says "I'm just someone in trouble". At least he could have sung "I'm just a boy in trouble" or "man in trouble". Of course, Melanie sang it as "girl in trouble" and it felt that way - it was a real heart throbber. Here is Melanie's original: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZeYi5eebMiHjKc
