Only Morrissey can write a morbid song that is so addictive and danciable.

One of the best songs of Morrissey's career--a near perfect combination of pop-infused Spanish instrumentation and structure, ordinary folk relatability, and tragic yet exuberant vocals make it a joy to listen to over and over again. Muchisimas gracias Morrissey!

What matters is that you like what you study and the future profession you can practice, otherwise you shouldn´t keep on studying. Everything else is not so important. And I say this after 7 years of your comment. Totally pointless.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

My favourite Morrissey song...sod the haters who say he's not good anymore...he's created some of his best songs in the past few years IMO...this is one of them...Gustavo Manzur is a brilliant musician as well...a work of genius, getting him into the band....

His recorded company messed up big time on this one - it should have been heavily promoted, with a video and TV appearances. They clearly didn't know how to handle Morrissey

This song reminds me of his "Mute Witness" a bit. That is to say, I like it a lot! Honestly, Morrissey is unequalled in the song title department. A simple short sentence that tells an entire story. Often ironic, always iconic, and lyrically laconic.

I'm surprised by some of the slightly negative reviews of this album, each to their own of course, but I think it's one of Morrissey's best to date. Someone even said there aren't many hooks or memorable songs, WHAT!? Have they not listened! I haven't received my CD yet, so I've listened to 30sec snippets, and watched some videos on here, and the songs are already embedded in my brain. May you make music all the time there's breath in your body Morrissey!
@ghostrider26649 жыл бұрын
Yes there's three hooks in this song alone....so, don't know what they are talking about.
@snowbelle748 жыл бұрын
No it's definitely one of the most melodic and lyrically impressive albums. I just think the choice of Kiss Me A Lot as a single was dubious as its one of the only weak songs. Critics in UK never like to give Morrissey praise for more than two albums in a row, and considering he's been on a creative roll more or less since You Are The Quarry, including Autobiography, they probably felt he was due for some negativity

Walker's drumming on this is off the hook damn good! Up there with Spencer Cobrin on 'the operation'. Then you get subtle clarinet and Morrissey building with "cramming, jamming, pack em in ramming, choc-a-bloc books power study..." So many emotions in one track! Drive, sympathy and happiness!

Love the crummy line in the middle section "if you break your legs don't come running to me". What other lyricist would put something so daft and throwaway in? He's almost trolling himself because it's a rubbish 'dad-joke' but he and the listener are both in on it. As a lyricist / vocalist he works on so many more levels than most contemporaries who often only work on one level.

Agreed - over produced... his live stuff is so much more forceful and raw...

Yeah, Moz loves his atmospheric music before and after songs. I don't mind it as I usually just skip ahead. I think they should have had them be 'interval tracks' than a part of the song itself. Or have them as outros to the song we can skip past.

P sure Morrissey is being snarky, addressing the ridiculous expectations put on kids, and exaggerating to drive the point. I could be wrong, but in any case, grades are not worth throwing oneself down the stairs. Nothing is. I feel quite confident in that statement, having learned it only after six attempts.
