Always thought it was weird that some people suggested that the weapons and armors are "redesigned" for each game, when in fact, all styles presented across all the games exist in unison, and are lore friendly within the culture/province they are found which are also influenced by the mood/tone that Bethesda is aiming for. Morrowinds weapons look almost alien-like Oblivions' weapons have that Knightly/High Fantasy look. Skyrim aims for an epic/nordic style. The fact that ESO has an entire motif system that changes the style of a weapon or armor gives credence to this as well.
@ooofexe72103 ай бұрын
Sorry for the grammar errors I can't edit my comment for some reason. Anyway I just want to add on to this. I don't know why morrowind nords would have morrowind style nordic armour if they don't live in morrowind... Each style fits the game, morrowind designs reflected the culture they were from, yet that culture no longer exists.

Bow only a few meters away for accuracy and power, but still out of range of a spear, and then also a spear to stay at the far side of melee combat. I play Morrowind like this. Usually the spear has burden or damage fatigue or something to slow my enemies down so I can back out and use the bow again. It's kinda pointless cos Morrowind is easy but it is fun. Having those options removed come Oblivion made me sad. Even putting axes and hammers under 'blunt' kinda sucked coming from Morrowind

IMO _Axes_ 🪓 *Daedric* I think Oblivion definitely looks the worse, but it's harder to pick between Morrowind and Skyrim. I'm gonna go with Morrowind because I don't like the little spikes on Skyrim's *Dwemer* Honestly, they all look good. Dwemer always had slightly different styles in all 3 games, but it never looked bad. So all of them. *Ebony* Morrowind's not that great here, despite the fact that I like all the other ebony stuff in Morrowind. So it's all between Oblivion and Skyrim. I regret that there is not enough gold on Skyrim's, but it is the one I'm gonna pick because on the contrary, Oblivion has far too much gold on it. *Glass* Oblivion does not look that great, so it's between Skyrim and Morrowind. It's a shame that Glass stuff in Skyrim feels so elvish-looking, because it looked more original before, so I'm gonna go with Morrowind. *Iron* I mean, they are meant to look generic, and they all do that well. I still think Oblivion's worse, because it lacks details that Morrowind had, but it's a tie. *Steel* While in-game and compared to Morrowind, it's not bad, I think Oblivion and Skyrim both did it better. I'm gonna pick Skyrim because of the cool-looking engravings, and because in Oblivion Steel armor is not that dark. _Maces_ 🔨 *Daedric* I really don't like Skyrim's here. With that being said, it does not matter because Morrowind is straight up better than the other. *Dwemer* Same as the axes, except they all look bad instead. *Iron* Exactly the same than for the axes. Complete tie. *Steel* Morrowind looks the worse here, whereas Oblivion (finally) looks the best. _Swords_ ⚔ *Daedric* Wow does Oblivon looks bad here. Skyrim is interesting, but again these spikes on the blade ruin everything. In contrast, Morrowind feels more logical, so it takes the cake. *Ebony* Honestly, I like all of them. The design is intersting in Skyrim, and you can easily understand that it is a pretty uncommon weapon in both Oblivion and Morrowind. A bit too much gold in Oblivion, but aside from that I like them all. *Glass* I know I said that I'm not a big fan of the elvish-looking glass in Skyrim, but here the other 2 games kind of failed, so it wins by default. *Iron* Same as usual for this material. *Silver I think Oblivion takes the cake here. I mean it looks good in all games, but these weapons are meant to be used against werewolves, vampires or other undead creatures, so I feel like it should look rare enough. *Steel* Oblivion and Skyrim wins there. Morrowind looks weird, plus it is too similar to Ebony sword. *Nordic* I'm a bit conflicted. Skyrim's nordic weapons look awesome overall, but why do they have curved swords here ? Because of this, it's a tie to me.

The Glass weapons have a bit of a lore reason as to why they look so different in Skyrim, the High elves managed to steal the method for making glass weapons from the dark elves who previously were the only ones who knew how to do it and in that same process the dark elves managed to steal the method for making elven armor and weapons from summerset so the weapons and armor became more commonplace. the Thalmore basically spread glass weapons and armor outside of Morrowind.

Huh. Skyrim's weapons are almost universally better, not just in terms of looks or graphics, but in their actual design. The only real exception is in the swords category. For some reason, Bethesda decided that they needed more stupid, jagged scimitar-looking things instead of the much more sensible and culturally relevant variants on the straight, double-edged sword. By far the worst offender is that abomination they called a "Nordic Sword". That's not a Nordic sword, that's a half-assed Khopesh. And while Khopesh are cool and all, they have about as much to do with anything Nordic as the Great Pyramids do.
