At the end Homelander is just a human with very hard skin, very strong and high energy lasers. Very effective in his own universe, but most fantasy/scifi media creates more powerful beings.

Omniman has the durability, experience, intelligence and fighting prowess not only from being a Viltrimite but also for living for so long . Realistically, most of the Kombatants wouldn't get further than annoying him and the fatalities would presumably take more effort to actually kill him rather then the goofy and short cinematics we get. Homelander on the other hand, is a big fish in a small pond. Anybody who can measure up to him, which doesn't take much, is going to wallop him to kingdom come.
