I have been rooting for Onaga to come back in a 2010s/20s modern era game. With Quan Chi and Shao Khan left out of this new "Great Kung Lao" timeline, we need a new "big bad" to balance it. Shang Tsung being an interference does not count, being confirmed as a pre-order bonus and therefore a sub-boss (at least in this timeline). I have a sneaky feeling that this versions of the sorcerer will make it so both endings of Aftermath are canon, traipsing across time and space to eliminate timelines where he will lose to Liu Kang in the battle to remake the universe.

With that being said, the version of Shang Tsung that appears in MK1, could be the one that works for Onaga.

Well Ed Boon said this game will be a homage to the 3D era. The Wu Shi Academy and Lin Kuei temple stages from Deadly Alliance will be in the new game. Can't wait to see the other characters and stages and who the actual boss is.

I think there are rules for the time keeper. For every evil the erase a new evil will replace it. Liu Kang doesn't have control over it. He has to keep it balanced that was the problem Kronika had with Raiden in MK11.

I dabbled in MK over the years and only ever owned Armageddon, but for some reason spent hours pouring over the ridiculous series lore. It's cool to note that Ed Boon, the MK series director, has gone on record saying that his favorite fighting game franchise is also Tekken. Would be amazing to see a crossover at some point.

I thought the reason as to what made Onaga so special that it was because Onaga is the one true emperor of Outworld and he's thereby the one true villain of the Mortal Kombat franchise and Shao Kahn took all of that from him, but that other explanation works too, but I believe that it's possible that Shang Tsung himself is responsible for Onaga's return when he began using both the hourglass and the crown to remake the universe in his image before Liu Kang interfere and unknowingly allowed Shang Tsung to make Onaga return from the dead and successfully killed Shao Kahn and reclaim both his throne and Outworld and re-assumed his duty as Outworld's one true emperor.

Lui Kang can absolutely control the choices people make. He has the ability to make an infinite number of timelines. Liu Kang can’t control people’s individual choices, he can only guide them in the right direction, that’s the role of a God, to give mortals the freedom to make their own choices. If he could control people, Kronika would’ve never gone mad from restarting the hourglass so many times, and Bi Han would not be evil in this timeline. Even if Liu could control individual people, what makes you think he would? It’s not in his character to do that.

I'm hoping that they ignore the injustice/DC fighting games forever... And do a mortal Kombat game every 3 to 4 years with an aftermath style DLC in between. Build up Onaga in the background of this first game, make him the big bad in the next game with a Shao Kahn in the darkness trying to figure out how to take him down, And then in the third of this new trilogy, have Shao Kahn have weasled his way into the boots of Onaga... The final boss of MK3. I never understood people's love for Shao Kahn, he's good, But wouldn't mind seeing this basic path over the next few years... Or Shao & Kotal as generals for Onaga in MK1, Onaga in MK2², then All New direction for MK3².

This... This is just off the top of my head, and could be speculation, but it's true. Onaga existing in this "secular" timeline is a possibility, and I'm thinking that with Shao, Liu Kang probably relegated him back to his old defender post, so he, like how Raiden was with Earthrealm, is the defender of Outworld, and it could be speculation of him being an obedient servant of sorts, you know following the rules like the others for a while, until he finds out about the state of the universe and how Liu Kang created this reality, and he goes turncoat, but not overbearing turncoat. The other half in my mind is, well it's from Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V and the other part is kinda what Gundam tried to do with it's many timelines and this kinda-sorta goes into MK1, where there's a supreme powerful force which tries to unify all dimensions and timelines into a single timeline, and be ruler of that. This is what I'm thinking that Onaga will do, he gets the power from Shang and/or Liu Kang, gets the hourglass, and he, with an army decides to wage invasive war over all possible and probable timelines that were created, and then having the goal of unifying all of them as one singular timeline so he can rule over all things.

My Theory - The website bios are possibly lying to us with changing one word. Mileena and Kitana bios say they are heirs to Outworld. Which wouldnt make sense. Does King Jerrod and Sindel rule Outworld instead of Edenia? Nah my idea is their bios are meant to say Edenia not Outworld, and then Onaga is the current ruler of Outworld with General Shao as his number 2. This timeline I think Edenia hasnt been taken over yet because Shao hasn't betrayed and poisoned Onaga yet and thus not invaded Edenia yet. And we see that happen in this game possibly. So starting realm rulers - Edenia: Jerrod and Sindel (Both Playable) / Outworld: Onaga with General Shao, Goro as Kameo but his King Dad playable. / Chaosrealm - We see Havik become Havik and ruler / Neatherrealm: I'd say just Lucifer still. Never seen him and maybe we will for MK2 / Earthrealm - Liu Kang / Orderrealm: Hotaru

I noticed this pattern of Goro being dlc in Mkx as a pre order and in Mk11 Sheeva is Dlc as well so should we expect to see Kintaro as Dlc maybe another part of Onagas forces. I'm netherrealm could make those characters look amazing all the characters do so far. I love how martial arts but like extreme and crazy with powers the moves feel and look in the animation.

The most likely scenario is that both endings of Aftermath are canon, they just spawned off different timelines. Shang Tsung then ruined his universe and decided to conquer Liu Kang's. And not all of the Liu Kangs we see are, in fact, Liu Kang, but Shang Tsung in disguise.

Onaga would be an excellent choice as the main villain in this new MK game...we have had shao kahn in MK 9...and aftermath expansion in MK 11...we had Quan chi and shinnok in MK 10...we then had kronika(I can't remember how to spell it)...geros and the other lady...I can't remember her name right now...they were rather tough villains in MK 11....with Liu Kang as this all powerful fire god being...in my opinion...onaga would be a perfect villain...it would help make goro a very effective adversary through most of the game as well...like with MK 10 and Quan chi...with onaga showing up toward the end like shinnok did in MK 10....

It's already been confirmed that it's Outworld that Mileena is in line to inherit and it's not Edenia, THAT'S Outworld, pristine and nice. So that probably means that Sindel or Jarrod is "Kahn". Don't know what that means for Onaga or where he sits in this timeline though.

It's possible that Goro's linked to the Dragon King, as half-human, half=dragon, while sharing similar movesets. Lest we forget Orin and Caro too. But I'm sure it's possible that, even though Liu's intro may be a throwaway line which I hope it isn't, I think FGLK and maybe Lao already killed Kahn prematurely, thus allowing Onaga to live on. And...becuz on what I found out about Mileena being royal to Outworld instead of Edenia, not to mention just heir to Sindel's throne...maybe Edenia no longer exists... I hope that's not the case.

I was called crazy and stupid for saying Liu Kang could be related to Onaga; when you REALLLLLLY think of how an earth born monk was able to best Shao Khan Shang Tsung Goro Kintaro and Shinnok. The Great Kung Lao was the best fighter in Earthrealm and still couldnt beat Goro. Maybe Liu having Onaga's fire could be exactly why he was able to defeat outworld's greatest. @@SupportGamin2024 Kronika literally pulled everyone out from the mk2 section of mk9, shao’s dialogue in aftermath literally confirms that he was about to snap kung Lao’s neck (which he did in mk9 bcoz time merger did not happen at that point in the present of the second timeline). If they’re both different, than shao Kahn would have been completely different from a different timeframe where he would have washed everybody easily considering by your theory, it’s onaga using shao Kahn and by that alone would have the villains won. The dragon scales mean nothing in mk11 and it’s a literal inconsistency shown right to you in the face and mk9 did not have that

I liked cheesing with Onaga in Armageddon. If he's in, I hope he's playable, but I doubt it. I'm honestly just expecting Shao Khan as the final boss again. Boring.

Why don't they just put every single original mk kharacter in the game not the guest kharacters just mortal kombat characters and let the elder gods be the second last boss then when you defeat them the 1 being becomes the final boss
