Gameplay is absolutely amazing, stages are fantastic, genuinely fantastic changes. Story on the other hand was terrible, I didn't care at all what was going on. Then it just ends, I literally screamed "THAT WAS IT" as the credits rolled. Animalitys are sick too. Laughed my ass off at peacemakers

For real, the story was so slow and boring, things didn't make sense. Like why would Bi han let Kuai Liang tell the whole truth to Cryax, he didn't even try to stop her. Liu Kang a mortal with the power of a god, got clapped left and right by Titan Havoc for no reason. Chameleon and Sektors interactions made no sense they praise one another but also belittle each other.

Even though the boss battle was just fighting a normal roster fighter, it was still cool that you could pick the ending. The boss fights in this game do not feel like boss fights at all

@@Shamoun2 I only liked the Khaos Reigns story for Havik's timeline but the ending sucked. I hated Aftermath because of all the time travel nonsense. They put Kotal on the ship just to kill him off. And when Shang revealed his true intent, Raiden and Fujin sat there and did NOTHING when he put the crown on. The last decent story for me was MKX.

Can't believe we still didn't get a proper MK9 Remaster. I recently made a tribute video of X360 as the last great generation (hope I'm wrong) and when capturing the footage, I re-visited MK9. I'm in awe how amazing it is. The story mode - which serves as a reboot - is great, better than the 2020 movie we got. Gameplay, maps, characters, costumes, art style are such a tribute to the arcade MK's from the 90's we grew up with.

I loved the story, despite its plot holes, it was really fun and interesting to go through. The ending was less than conclusive, but hopefully the community doesn’t whine us out of another expansion in a year, because I’ll buy that too. I thought the story, with all the new characters and changes/ additions was well worth the 50 bucks. No question, and we still have three guest characters coming!

Nah, 6K for each character's Brutalities I agree is way too much. I wouldn't mind if they were maybe 4K at the most, but 6K is def asking too much. I've played almost all the way thru Invasions and only gotten 4 so far, 2 w/ Sub Zero and Liu Kang.

I think there might be another expansion/dlc besides the story not giving a proper conclusion. People have data mined the game since Khaos Reigns came out and in the files/code it’s listed as dlc 1. That’s definitely weird to call it that if it’s were the only dlc they plan on releasing. I know it’s weird to trust data mines but it is code that’s in the actual game itself and it’s also how we found out months before the announcement of Khaos Reigns that the next characters being added were the ones they announced in kombat pack 2 and that cyrax and sektor would be gender bent. As for what this possibly second dlc would be about, I’m hoping it’s a Khaos Reigns part 2 that delivers on what seemed to be promised by the trailers and fixes the ending of what we already got

The characters feel amazing to play, the stages look beautiful, and the new moves really help a lot of characters however... the story just fell apart in the end and was nearly not long enough, I feel that we missed a lot of character interactions and dialogue that were missed like between our Johnny Cage and WW2 Johnny, or how when emperor Rain dies only Tanya and Sektor react to his death. Also we had the dragon in Havik's maze that we never saw again even though Tanya promised she'd return to free him which didn't sit right with me, also I hate how whenever you have a giant threat like Havik that seems unbeatable the writers have to find some bullshit way of defeating him which in this case was ripping his limbs off even though he was FUCKING DOING IT IN THE ENTIRE STORY AND DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT UNTIL THE END WHEN IT WAS MOST CONVENIENT FOR THE HEORES!!!!!! As you can see I think the story sucked.

We are playing MK 1 after my shift and if you play Klassic towers with Cyrax or Sektor they elaborated on the sudden end of the story mode. I completed the campaign last Friday and didn’t think much of the ending until I watched your “Honest Opinion” (we know you spit facts) but I hope this information helps. Loved the way the characters play i honestly thought id hate the DLC characters but they were fun as hell. Sektor and Cyrax specifically. Noob is always amazing imo he plays close to his MK9 interation. Cyrax is the better of the two cyborgs though

Noob gets revealed que drum roll........immediately gets his cheeks clapped by tanya and later noobs beats a titan. So does that mean tanya is also stronger than a titan?? Did we play the same story mode? Nothing made sense,the ending was just the cherry on top for tge madness. Do you guys just consume content without processing? Grandmasters being beaten by a subordinate. Why even have a grandmaster??? Also why was scorpion in the story again? What relevance did he have? What would not have been possible if was not there? I really have to break Khaos Reigns down into several sections in order to properly discuss it. Noob, Sektor and Cyrax are all great characters and are a blast to play. I'm enjoying Noob the most but am also having my wires crossed by some of his strings. So far, they are an undeniable win for the game. Where things get dicey is with the story mode. There are some interesting moments, but it feels like a more cinematic Invasions story. That said, at least we learn what happens to the Invasions boss once we beat them: we don't know what happened with Havik. Bi-Han/Noob is the MVP, even if he doesn't really have any kind of arc. He's just a dick throughout, but he's the one most affected by the plot. However, I will give it this: it was nice to see Harumi live. As a product, $50 was way too much for this. $30 or $35 would've been more fair, but it seems like there should've been more included to justify a $50 price tag: dragon crystals, kameo fighters, something.

Finally, a fair review and not just needlessly complaining. As someone who has been professionally writing for over 10 years, I cannot believe how horrific this story was. It’s amazing how despite reading the entire script for the DLC and having no expectations, I was still disappointed. The whole story was all over the place. It started off fine, but then got stupid the after Cyrax confronted Sub-Zero. The characters, however, are god tier. I’ve been a Noob main since MK11 (I started MK very late lmao) and my god, I had to turn Sub into my other secondary. He’s too much fun.

I will defend this about the new brutalities, the 6k seasonal coins isn't that bad because they cost the same as a new character skin based on the season's theme. You also get new weekly missions which can give you a good number of coins while the daily stuff is just small fry you can grind. I will say however that we should've had more kamoe brutalities because I think everyone has enough coins to unlock everything in the shrine, even if its a basic brutality. As for the story itself, I think that the beginning and end felt rushed to get to the point. I would've liked to see more fight scenes in the training room with Cyrax just to play for a little longer with her because she and Sektor felt like secondary characters during the mission to rescue Geras. I will also agree that Havik's defeat felt very lackluster, there are just a lot of things to pick apart and say "this would've been better" or "they should've done this" that you kinda have to turn your brain off to not get distracted. Specifically for the final match with Havik, he should've said that the kamidogu he had on his chest are linked with Geras so if he dies then everyone in his world plus our Geras would also die permanently. We did see a bunch of dead Geras bodies when Sub Zero was being dragged to the experiment lab so that would've been enough for Liu Kang to say "we have to keep him alive until we can reverse his binding" while Bi Han would be against it because Titan Havik is too deadly to let live, going back to the scene with Empress Mileena who wanted to execute Sub Zero and Sektor while Liu Kang and Kitana try to grant them mercy. That would've given everyone a small sense of resolution because now Titan Havik is permanently linked to a vital character and we need to keep him contained until we can solve this problem.

We only saw him on the first chapter, just to have 1-3 lines I believe. Story was good, I feel y’all’s pain about the ending with Havik, and I love the DLC gameplay. It feels good to play.

The way the story ended with a cliffhanger there's definitely more coming Super. A new dialogue between Reiko and Sektor reveals that Onaga tricked him into believing he was tamed and is now free somewhere in Outworld. Also, a dialogue between Liu Kang and Geras mentions the new threat of a Titan Onaga. So there's 2 different ways they could take the story from here since they're world building and everything from both stories so far and character dialgues are all tieing in together.

at this point I rather consider it a annual subscription than a "full-game-price" DLC. Invasion's is actually fun now, new Tower-System is good again (like MK11's), a lot of quality of life bonuses, a crazy ton of new and visually amazing stages and additionally 6! characters In the modern era 1 DLC character costs around 10 bucks, so getting 6 for the price of 5 AND with a 90 minute fun popcorn movie is actually a damn good deal. I'd rather give good money for a quality product than going spending less for a meh-game. Of course MK1 has still many years and QoL-things to go for.

How havik died was just so strange, story wise it was so awful. I was expecting more gameplay changes then what they implemented given how long the games been out. My biggest complaint is that characters have optimal khameos thus you need to use a certain combination for the “best build” I just wish each character was completely viable on their own and khameos would just add some flavor to them, not saying every character should have mixups but in the case for scorpion he legit needs Farah to even be competitive with how many other characters have mixups, sub needs a khameo to make his meter less launcher safe yet 4+ other characters are safe when trying to mix. It handicaps the gameplay imo kinda like how cod has meta builds. And brutals, why do they even charge for brutals, should’ve made that the same with the seasonal fatalities instead of having to pay, even with two plus each character barely has 8 brutals most are the same exploding animation! 😭

I really miss the AI mode from MK11. Hopefully they'll bring it back, it was invaluable to me since I'm not the best player to begin with. Plus, the ex button change to the right trigger is way more difficult for me than using the right bumper

The trigger being used for EX moves was like that back in MK9 and MKX, it was only in MK11 where they changed it to the bumper for some reason

As for the Story Expansion I actually love it, sure I have some Issues like it Felt Short, Characters other than Rain should have been taken down by Havik’s Army like Tanya and Li Mei, NRS needs to put Less is More and make the Multiverse into Small Doses, and Titan Havik’s Punishment brings tons of Questions, I Personally don’t hate the Story as Others Intended to Be, MK1 is both a Deadly Alliance Requel and a Love Letter to every MK Era, especially the 3D One, I said this many times before but I don’t mind the Genderbending as long as Gender doesn’t define the Characters and are Accurate to the Lore and with Ketchup and Mustard they didn’t Disappointed as they are the Complete Opposite of Each Other with Cyrax having free will and is a Honorable Warrior that Follows her Humanity and Sektor is a Selfish Control Freek that would Evolve her Clan that will lead to the Cyber Initiative and they were Executed Better than the Last 13 Years, Kuai Liang will never be Hanzo Hasashi, we know this, NRS Knows this but this is a Unique Take on the Character alone as he saw the Man he knew as his Brother to be a Madman in both life and death, I like Harumi as I believe she and Smoke are protecting the Clan after the Wedding Crash, Kuai is a Good Scorpion and I like that he kinda fulfilled his promise to Cyrax in MK11 that as long as He’s Grandmaster Cyrax is always welcome to his Clan which I will admit she’s way better as a Shirai Ryu than a Lin Kuei, the Characters were Good, Titan Havik is a Menace that he’s a Fusion to Deception and MKX Comic Counterparts and I like Khaos Kenshi and Takeda as Side Villains although I have so many questions about their Relationship with Havik, Mainly Kenshi depending on if he’s on Havik’s Weird Chamber that Kenshi might’ve being the Hair Stylist on those Mohawk and those Havik’s from the Khaoseum are Probably Preverted/Mas0chl$t, anyway I love Emperor Rain and Empress Tanya as a Couple as in all honesty they had better Chemistry than Kotal and Jade and Mileena and Tanya as those Relationships feel Forced, even Bi-Han and Sektor are Perfect for Each Other, Johnathan Cage is Hilarious, the Stage Visual and Music and the Free Skins you unlock in the Story are Great, especially the Music giving Classic MK Dark Vibes, I’m happy Harumi survive as there’s Potential to her Character, even in a Kameo, Khameleon and Frost having a Small Role is a Win, the Kamidogus reappearing as a product of Draining a Hoard of Geras’ like a Living Sponge shows Havik can Kill the Unkillable, and Noob Saibot is what I can Describe as Perfect as this Character gets better each Game and unlike his Transformation to a Wraith by Quan Chi manipulating Scorpion and Embracing the Darkness in his Soul to transform him into a Ghostly Wraith, I think what Havik did is Worse as at least Quan Chi made it Quick and Painless, Havik’s Process was Slow, Painful, and Agonizing by mutating his Body with Havik’s Chemicals that Burned his Skins, put his Thoughts into him while Drowning him is a Pool of Waterly Chaos, and Ripped his Soul Out and Stitched it together like a Reverse Version of Frankenstein’s Monster, Ermac, and Geras, no wonder why Bi-Han is pissed at Havik as technically he’s a Undead Creature made of Chaotic Science and Magic and now he’s more Angrier, Arrogant, Egotistical, and Power Hungry and Drunken than when he was as Sub-Zero with his Ambitions to his Order still intact, it’s possible that because he’s has Havik’s Knowledge, or the Boost of the Kamidogus, or Both that made him have the Power to Defeat and Destroy a Titan and yet he still blames his Creator like he was Wronged instead of admitting his Flaws that maybe he’s long gone in his Darkness, plus love seeing Orin returning, Tanya’s Telepathy which Dragons is a Homage to her Armageddon Ending, and Noob being in a Coffin could be a reference to Frost being in a Coffin of Ice from the 3D Era, 8 out of 10, I know Fans think this is the Worst Thing that ever happened to the Franchise but this is Far Far from the Worst thing that happened to this Game Franchise if you know what I mean, it Tried New Things and put a lot Passion from Past Games that I have to give NRS Credit, they are Planting the Seeds to this New Universe’s Future, Khaos Reigns is similar to Aftermath as they relied upon Timelines in the First Place and MK1 was Tying Loose Ends from Aftermath, sure it might be Incomplete but according to Datamines it’s possible we’ll get a 3rd Story Expansion with Shang Tsung’s Island and Tournament as it was Heavily Teased in Dialogues since the Game’s Release, I love Shang but I feel like we should finish his Story, this Started with Shang Tsung so let’s End it with Him while Rapping Things Up with Onaga in the Next Game.

The initial mk1 story was already shaky but now...they've outdone themselves. "Hey Marvel did it soooo successfully, why can't we?" Same result with (Disney)Marvel's multiverse. I think that those who benefit from this DLC the most, are the ones who didn't buy it. New stages, animalities and towers of time, is a very good (free)update.

Let me get this straight ill be interested for the staple veterans of mk3 characters for kp2 khaos reigns pack physical edition when it arrives and that will be sektor cryax and noob saibot. Again the story since there was no post ending scene what happened to havik and if hes living or not and who might release as the next villain from the kamidogu, really makes me think that there wont be another story mode dlc. So there will be another kp and that kp3 but a third story is really unlikely. so i thought we might could have seen onaga coming next in a post credit ending scene. Usually when there is a post ending scene things might could shift to maybe yes another third dlc story but since there isnt i dont think we will see any of it. cuase the final part was cryax got graduated as the grandmaster of the shirai ryu on behalf of scorpion. and yes noob saibot killed havik before liu kang cease him not to kill him at all costs cuase they wanted to question him about the peril realms and what lies in their fate. most likely bi han will return as sub zero again after he will be restored by liu kang at the temple of the elements, cause bi han died due to the facts that his dark magic powers has faded completly. So bi han would rule the lin kuei as sub zero again but this time he will rise again as an earth realmer and not embrace outworld or khaos realm. but yeah it was all multiverse once again. and empress mileena didnt show up like she had to cater for most outworld affairs including general shao and his rebellion so she would investigate his involvment with shinnoks amulet, but instead she had to work with earth realm to unite against havik and his chaos realm story. But yeah she dissapeared.

you make a entire expansion on a new crazy titan premisse, to not given a proper end to it and charge me a full GAME price.... i do agree the DLC characters are very nice and the new free skins kind saved Tanya, Rain and Li Mei for me, but its lacking. A step in the right direction for sure, but way too pricy and lackluster, which to be honest could be MK1 subtitle as a whole. We still dont have basic functions in this game, not a single 1 Kameo with this expansion, many characters got nothing in the balance patch and OMG the Warrior Shrine is a JOKE, but hey, we have mini maps in invasions now....

Then stop comparing the game to MK11. That game had a huge amount of customization and offline modes but completely lacked depth in gameplay. In MK1 you still have so much skins to unlock, even without money, a single player mode that changes each season, and the best and most in depth gameplay since MKX I'd rather loose some towers of time and have extremely good gameplay than mindlessly grinding hours of shallow fights against bots.
