To answer your question, the main theme and the ending boss theme were recorded with an orchestra in Budapest, and almost every other piece uses some combination of live-performed traditional solo instruments from around the world (guzheng, pipa, oud, hand drums, etc.). Incredibly grateful to work with such talented musicians and contribute to the MK franchise - and for your awesome and hilarious gameplay vids! :D

The composer is Wilbert Roget II. He also did the score for MK11 & Destiny 2: Forsaken and will do the music for the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws game. Very talented dude!

Talking about the music- the MK KZbin channel put out a making of video for the music! And yes they do use a live orchestra to record as well as musicians playing Chinese instruments such as the Guzheng! They did the same thing for MK11 and I'm always so fascinated about the behind the scenes stuff.
