I actually quite like that Johnny is wearing normal clothes. MK1 made it a point to take away his one supernatural aspect in the past MK games, and to reflect that they also made him dress like a normal man, all to have him stand out as the "token normal guy" in the cast. This subsequently makes him stand out more because he's actually living up to what he was meant to be in the first place: a normal dude finding himself in a situation waaaaaaaaaay beyond his wildest imagination.

The thing that Liu Kang has on his back is a harness. They’re used practically for safety, tethering people and animals to things. In this case cosmetically it also represents that, safety, a bond, and a tether to protect and connect himself to earth realm and its people as well.

Honestly reptiles hood made me wish the other ninjas had them as well. Hoods similar to reptile's on smoke, scorpion or sub zero would work pretty well and might make there design a bit more decent to me. What they could have done was to maybe have hoods but they can take them off in story mode. Similar to how in mk 11, scorpion as Hanzo (or even kuai Liang) in the story mode had his down the whole time where as in the default it's on with his mask. It gives a bit of best both worlds, we get to see them maskless/hoodless and the option with the hood.

I totally agree with Sindel's placement despite being a Sindel main I was disappointed with her Default and Union of Light skin. Both are incredibly plain for an Empress. What's worse is that Sindel had probably the best customization in MK11 and my only hope is that we get some version of her human default skin with the nice dress from that game in MK1. It's really weird how Sindel looked amazing in MK11 but in MK1 looks so unrefined. I also hope Tanya gets her MKX outfit with Jenifer Hale's voice, that would be superb.

Tanya is funny; they just change her personality into a less interinst one (she was never that great a character but 'backstabs everyone at a given chance' is def more instersting than 'stoic female royal guard #5234'), make her design worse, change her weapon AND her inspiration from egyptian to subsharan african, maker her steal sheeva AND jade's role in the kingdom... They had to just change her into an entire different character just to make the ship with mileena work. NR does fear the mileena stans indeed.

The thing that I noticed about the female characters besides Ashrah is the open toed biscuit heels they have on. Who wears open toed granny heels to a fight? It just does not look flattering. Also, I do somewhat agree with Tanya’s outfit being a bit too over designed but I understand the hair. They modeled her after an African warrior so I get the inspiration of the hair and I don’t mind it.

I know that being a much newer fan is going to invalidate my opinon to some extent, but I honestly like Li Mei and Tanya's fits😭Though admittedly, there really are some overdesign issues going on with Tanya, she kinda looks like she belongs with some of the MCU's overdesigned Eternals too... And yeah, the nude coloured bits of clothing on default Sindel are kinda confusing? But not a whole deal breaker to me. And to play Johnny's advocate, honestly the fact that he dresses as regularly as that kinda fits him more in the new timeline imo, he's slightly more decent and cultured in the start than how previous Johnny usually was before being humbled. And he's not in the 90s/2000s anymore so idk, I feel like that's also a factor, even if he's still a movie star. I also view the ninja outfits as pretty equal and I just find all three of them to be alright, but I wholeheartedly agree on the s tier lol.

Kenshi and Reptile did make bank in MK1 all around. Baraka hasn't really change in looks so I never saw anything special when it came to him in the looks department. The ladies of MK1 were either hit or miss. The Lin Kuei boys always the same. Geras got a massive upgrade which he needed. Everyone else I agree with you. TrueUnderDawg.
