The first Test Your Might, which is with Baraka, I was confused at first. I was waiting too long because I thought I have to wait for symbols of the buttons to slide down at the white lines in the middle to press one of them on time like a rhythm minigame. But then I realize I just have to mash every button as fast as I can. I only did one bar of success and then I get the failure cutscene LOL.

Possibly follows the same logic as Avatar's Firebenders; he can project and resist fire through his own control, but opposing heat can still affect him if his defences falter. If nothing else, he was dunked into molten metal, which has a physical component and usually exceeds open flames in temperature.
