He may not be the same kind of tyrant that Shao Kahn was, but he was still something of a dictator who executes people who have to steal just to survive. Even still, there is never going to be a scenario where someone like Kotal will ever beat Shao Kahn one on one. Even I saw that coming every time they tangled. Different timelines, perhaps? Nobody says the timeline has to be straight from 9 through X and 11. Kronika said herself everything's played out like this several times over, even Raiden realizing not to fight Liu Kang. It's entirely possible that on *this* timeline Sindel was never a hero and genuinely put the ward up trying to keep Shao Kahn from overextending and merging the realms without victory in Mortal Kombat. After all, it really _did_ come out that the one time Shao Kahn decides to merge the realms without victory, he screws himself over, no? That's probably the best in-universe reasoning for the multiple timelines, retcons, and arcade endings, after all.

I love MK11’s design of Shao Kahn because it shows that he’s more than just a regular character in the series. Even though I liked him in MK9 his design didn’t really show what he really was.

Kinda new to the series. Can someone explain how Sindel's death prevented Shao Kahn from invading Earthrealm? Also why is Raiden hated by so many? I liked Raiden. But, I honestly thought of him as Shao Kahn's equal in power.

Well she died to prevent him from taking over another realm and for Raiden people hate him cause he got dumber from trying to prevent Armageddon to not killing shang tsung he did get dumber but but not in mk9
