It's basically a heroes journey story in a Mortal Kombat universe. I think this one is a better entry than the last movies. They made the original MK characters and especially the ninjas more badass than the 95 film.

2 words Hiroyuki! Sanada! He is absolutly amazing and his martial arts skills are insane. Also he is insanely hot. Plus both Hiroyuki and Chin Han as Shung have unique voice so it's a damn pleasure to both listen to them and looking at them. Though it's sad Shung doesn't have fight scenes because Chin Han has also amazing martial arts skills you could see in Marco Polo!!

I was thoroughly eager to watch this movie but it turned out to be a disappointment. This movie is horrible, and as a fan, I just got to be honest. Action sucks, the story and the characters were eviscerated, the acting was extremely dull, and their was just so much wrong with it. People like me only acknowledge this so the next movies won’t be as trash as this one

The actions scenes were some of the worst I had seen all year, the story and it’s characters were extremely flat as well as the acting, the effects were largely mediocre, the cinematography was very bland, the music sucked aside from the theme, and overall it just a complete disgrace to fans of the game. This was like 2017 Justice League levels of bad. If you enjoy a movie like that or just don’t really watch many movies in general, then I bet people would love this movie. But for someone like me who is a fan of the games as well as a fan of martial arts and other such movies, it is a complete slap in the fucking face to its audience

fight scene is good but not the best. the choreography is awesome tho. sadly they did so many cuts that we couldnt see the flow of the fight. and i cant really feel the impact of the punches or kicks. unlike movie the raid, i feel hurt just by watching it. lol yeah, definitely the raid is more mortal kombat than mortal kombat movie itself. lol

Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao and Kano are easily the best in this film. Lewis Tan is pretty good, it’s just a shame his character was so boring even with them trying to shoehorn him into Scorpion’s story like that because Scorpion happens to be one of the two most popular characters in this franchise. Thanks WB who apparently demanded the creation of an original character like this. At least the writers stopped them from trying to actually make Cole **Scorpion** at first in which case they should have just cast Lewis as Hanzo. But I love Hiroyuki Sanada so I’m happy they didn’t.

The two sequences between scorpion and subzero made the movie for me. Also to answer the question, favorite martial artist has to be Donnie Yen. I also like Jet Li, Vincent Zhao, Wu Jin, Yuen biao, Scott Adkins, Michael Jay White., Michelle Yeoh, Joe Taslim (ofc). But the best Shenzen was portrayed in Fist of Legend by Jet Li.

The 2021 reboot had a pretty bad story, underdeveloped characters, awfully corny one-liners, though CGI was great at times, and some of the costumes looked pretty good. A few of the fights scenes were incredible, though most weren’t properly choreographed. And they failed in interpreting some characters, though small group of them were well done. Because I love Mortal Kombat, I would give this new film a 5/10. Bi-Han was done well in terms of being a unsettling/ emotionless pursuer, though his costume was a bit ridiculous. Goro, Nitara, and Reiko we’re done terribly. Reptile looked great and his scene was well done. Kano was hilarious, though it wouldn’t make sense for Kano to be the funny guy. Cole was really boring tbh. Despite the little screen time Kung Lao gets, his character is done really well, as well as Liu Kang. I enjoyed both Raiden and Shang Tsung, as both felt intimidating at times. Scorpion was good in every scene he was in. I actually liked this iteration of Sonya, though I wasn’t a big fan of Jax. Oh, and Kabal was done really well. Mileena wasn’t that great though, as she didn’t really feel like Mileena. Too bad almost all the interesting characters got very little screen time. And the concept of the the Arcana is cool, but the way it manifests itself is a bit ridiculous at times. The best part of this film would have to be the opening scene.

They didn't hired any Hongkong actors to do the fight scenes... In first two iterations of Mortal Kombat the Liu Kang actor was renowed in the HK actor, stuntman and martial artist Robin Shou.Also there was many other REAL martial artists, like Chris Cassamasa as Scorpion and Keith Cooke as Reptile. Just watch the fights of theirs. What an intensity. Even when Scorpion fought with Johnny Cage... From the first Mortal Kombat movie the best fight scenes was with those charactets
