Both times Kratos just wasn't having Freddy's shit. He tried to grab him in murder him while he was in the furnace and he was completely ready for Freddy's suprise attack.

Kratos does that in a lot of fatalities. In Ermac's giant fatality, he still tries to fight when everyone else runs away.

Asides from a few minor things, not all of which are good. Kratos does possess a powerful counter skill (that doesn't need to be enhanced to block both ranged and melee techniques), he utilizes blades that, were significantly weakened for equality purposes, and (here's the bad one) only has 4 techniques in which he can use in Armless Kombat. Then again, every character has something to brag about; Sub Zero freezes, Freddy has a fatality that can be preformed anywhere, etc.

purpose, sony doesn't want the image of kratos to be blemished too much, it's why you'll notice he doesn't show fear in some fatalities, and in Freddie's Furnace, he's actually trying to drag freddie IN with him.

This is a quite intelligent comment. Yes Kratos is a fairly strong character compared to to the guys from Mortal Kombat but he shows his strength mostly in the Qte's and not in actual gameplay. When I am playing as Kratos I feel just as strong or weak as most other characters in hack and slash games. In my opinion the power of a video game character is determent by how powerful I feel when I am playing as him/her. This is why I think Kratos is overrated and deserves getting his ass kicked.
