In order to unlock Liu Kang, you must first have beaten the Konquest. If you've gotten that out of the way, go to Edenia. Here, you need to get to Square G8 (Jade's Tent). Here you will find a tent. Behind this tent, at 12:00 A.M. (00:00) on a Friday (between a Thursday and a Friday) appears a Gold Treasure Chest, in which lies the Krypt Key OT, which unlocks Liu Kang as a playable character. The treasure chest only appears for a limited amount of seconds, so make sure you snatch it open fast, or else you'll have to wait a whole week before you'll have the chance to get the Krypt Key again. Remember, the chest only appears at midnight between a Thursday and a Friday. You can always meditate to speed up the process of waiting; just make sure you stop meditating early enough so you won't miss the treasure chest.
