Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a fighting game released by Midway in 1996 as an update to Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Unlike the previous title, it was not released in arcades (except for a cameo in a movie), but was instead released for the PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn and PCs.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy features the same gameplay and story as Mortal Kombat 3, but adds characters and stages from the other three arcade games, including Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Some completely new characters were also introduced. New additions to the game included the "Aggressor" bar, a meter that fills during the course of the match and temporarily makes a player character faster and stronger. It also features a new finishing move called Brutality, a long combination of attacks that ends with the opponent exploding.

Because Shang Tsung can turn into any non-boss character and makes it more interesting. Back when competitive Mortal Kombat was a thing, and yes, it actually was a thing, almost EVERYONE played Shang Tsung.

Big Core Mk X To answer your question, it's what's called an Exploding Babality. It's a little Easter Egg left by the developers and is unique to the N64 version of the game. You pull it off by holding a certain button combination (I forget which one) while performing a Babality.

It's like a counter. You hold HP+LP+HK+LK when someone does a babality to you. And instead of staying a baby, you return to normal and explode, resulting in a fatality... I think it's to avoid disrespect.

Aleast with N64 you can change people with Shang Tsung on the fly while with PSX you have to wait in mid fight while it loads the character Shang Tsung morphs into..

It's because when you start a combo by hp, hp back+lp occour a bug at the last back+lp and the damage decreases after doing more hits.

Compared to the ps version this was a garbage port. slightly better graphics/sound than ultimate for genesis not to mention this trilogy port compared to the ps1 had a A LOT less in it.

Also on the N64 version you don't have to wait for the game to load, you don't have to wait to morph into another character with Shang Tsung unlike PSX you got to wait to morph into another character cause it loads with every character you choose with Shang Tsung.. With N64 you don't have to worry about that..

@@kenrickeason again, there's a option in the option mode that allows you to pre-select a few characters for Shang Tsung so it doesn't load. That, along with the graphical and sound improvements make the PlayStation version far superior

No version was really a winner. Either you got a weaker tech port without all the features and characters that none-the-less loaded lightning quick because of the hardware or you got an "Arcade perfect" port that had to load if you looked at it funny and arcade quality but ultimately gimped into inferiority Redbook CD music(That's sampled at the wrong bitrate on top of that.) Trilogy is really the game that deserved all those re-ports, not UMK3.
