As soon as Smoke-borg came out in KP2, I knew he was my main. But I never felt like I encountered many other decent Smokes online back when he came out, like it was pretty rare to see one period, and then 80% of those I did play, it was just someone playing keepaway and spamming his overhead teleport. It was super rare to play against one who was as good or me or better (and I wasn't that good at MKX lol, and didn't pay attention to the pro scene at all). So it's weird to me now to go back and watch tournaments that went down later and find out he was considered top tier and very represented at high levels. Like it makes sense of course (I mean I mained him so I knew he was good, but I thought he was really underrated) yet it's so at odds with my actual experience playing. As opposed to now, where the most represented MK11 characters at pro levels are also very represented online (Liu Kang, Joker, etc). I guess maybe Fujin would be an equivalent - like maybe someone who's just starting might gravitate towards Fujin just because they like his style, but then they might not see too many other Fujins till they level up a lot, where pros consider him top 5 easy.

i always kinda disliked scar's matches cause demo sonya was op af (esp all the negative edge stuff was definitelly not intended to exist by the game's creators and it's great they removed it). now smoke imo is a honest character and i love seeing scar use it brilliantly!

What this tournament did show us is how op scar actually is, using smoke who's powerful but not hugely op, pretty honest character, and demo sonya after the nerf who is also pretty honest now, and before it wasn't megaly op tbh

@@pneptun Weakness #1 - the level of execution it took to use her and how when she whiffed, she REALLY whiffed. #2 - She worked best against characters she could rush to death, but in the face of another character who could rush down (AND zone as well, potentially...lookin at you Erron Black) she could be beaten at her own game at times. And finally, #3 - She was entirely reliant on having grenades stocked, and if she didn't she'd literally drop straight from an S-tier character to a B+ tier character in the SAME round lol.
