Great guide! Personally, I really enjoy the game so far. Got 300hrs and at around 150hrs is when it really started paying off. Game is not for the weak, it is full loot open world sandbox PvP, so you’re gonna have to play smarter not harder and choose a noob friendly starting city (makes a huge difference in new players experience). Old school MMO style, unlike any other MMO on the market right now with the exception of ultima, so expect to be lost at the beginning. Bulk of your learning will occur by watching videos like these or looking it up on the side. Additionally, game is very socially heavy with guilds and in-game voip, so if you’re a lone wolf you might have a bit of a harder time later on. It’s not for everyone, but I’ve been enjoying it so far. North America playing isn’t that bad at least on the East Coast.

In my opinion, this is the best beginner's guide for the game. I've watched many others before but most didn't offer as much insight to what the game is, or what to generally do to really learn it as well as yours has. And because of that I didn't really try to play the game because it felt too broad and complicated. So I really appreciate this guide and will be giving the game another go, thanks

Spot on guide for new players, especially with regards to not leaving Haven too early. The game isn't actually as brutal or difficult as some might expect. I tend to prefer carebear MMOs and have never really enjoyed full loot games but MO2 is the only MMORPG I've played in recent times that feels like a real MMORPG, with an expansive world and a 'do what you like' approach and a need to make friends and group up. And not every single player that you see in the world is hostile, in fact it's often the opposite. There's always that threat of attack though, and that's what makes arriving in town with a bag full of loot so much more rewarding. If you want to reap rewards, learn to accept and enjoy the risk that comes with it.

The game itself is supercool concept-wise, love the in depth crafting and skill systems that are so minute even breathing gets a stat lol - the downside is unfortunately the community, many of the veteran players have this "us vs them" mindset I believe, to the point where if anyone criticizes or complains about anything (simply asking if there was a better map / ways to mark a trail got me flamed) they immediately go into maximum alert defense mode and it's like they race to see who can tell the new player to just uninstall; AND that's not even including the naked horse murderers, people camping the resurrection priests, abusing exploits. TL;DR Game has potential be the best, will be held back by the playerbase
@MedievalMarty Жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree with parts of that. The most unfortunate thing is that the toxic players that go for the newbies, hang out near fabernum or the beginner cities. Once you head down the map and meet the big guilds, people have been so helpful and friendly and I've had some real wholesome experiences. But a new solo player needs to go through some rough times to learn the game and get strong enough to defend themselves, and its probably a big reason people quit!
@32bitpins73 Жыл бұрын
@@MedievalMarty I had a much better experience once I learned to avoid graveyards and other popular easy gank spots and look for my own farming areas. If you head out only with items you can afford to replace then the game becomes a lot more enjoyable and feels a lot less 'hardcore'. Gear is easy to replace too, especially if you're in a decent guild. I encourage new players to make friends and join a guild ASAP, the playerbase is actually super friendly and chatty in towns, and being in a group just makes everything that little bit safer and more fun overall.

sounds like the town you started in was bad. There are plenty of areas with friendly players. It also sounds like you asked for help in help chat.. maybe im wrong. maybe you just asked some assholes for help. Either way I think the majority of players are nice and helpful, the toxic players are just louder.

i remember people setting up entire clans just to camp town in mortal online 1, and just how toxic the community was i still dont understand how you can have fun chasing away players for hours a day, and then complain about the game dying mo2s player base fell by like 80% just 2 months after release, thats why i never bought it. i already knew everything i needed to know.

Just reached 160 hours into this game and I've rerolled my character 3 times, haven't even explored all of the map yet, and learning something new every day! super addicted and with the in game chat system you can really make some friends. Give me one solid reason anew player should join this game? And is there a discord new players can go to to learn?
@amyheals Жыл бұрын
@@marloncebo242 honestly there is a huge learning curve, it can be quite rough, but the one solid reason a new player should join this game is for the community. There is built in game help chat for new players to ask any question. Plenty of players who stick around Haven to help out. There is a discord with a questions section too. The community has really surprised me as there are loads of friendly, lovely people out there. With being able to type and have in game voice chat, the game is soo social. Another thing that the discord has is a guild recruitment section, I've traveled quite far across the map and found many different types of guilds, friendly, non-friendly, crafters guilds, mage guilds.

What really pissed me off about MO2 is the full loot open PvP, although within my almost 300 hours of playtime i rarely had any encounters. This game would be an absoute banger if it would also cater towards casual players (or those that dont enjoy pvp) by having a pve exclusive server with voluntary pvp. Those who enjoy the hardcore pvp have their own hardcore server, so both "parties" don't bother each other, the devs can thrive by finally having good cashflow and much more importantly, EVERYONE can enjoy the game, because behind the daunting pvp there is actually a pretty decent pve experience. But sadly this will never happen since the devs already said that they will never add another pve server again.
@MedievalMarty Жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree, the open world, the spells, the systems, would all make a fantastic pve experience. But yeah I think non pvp zones would be a good addition at the least, I imagine so many new players have quit due to being pvped by experienced players
@tsunamisurfer7344 Жыл бұрын
If you want to only PVE this is not your game. You will have to fight other players. However, if you join a large guild you might get by just farming for your guild.
@archonwarrior9146 Жыл бұрын
@@tsunamisurfer7344 Why are you telling me that. Don't you think i was able to figure that out within 300 hours of gameplay on my own? All i'm saying is that MO2 would make for an awesome PvE game if the devs wouldn't have a stick up their arses and make a seperate version/server of the game for those who don't enjoy the PvP it has right now. The game has more than enough content to satisfy pure PvE players, but they are simply gated be the threat of PvP and not everyone's fond of having to play with a large guild just get out of town to mine something. With the money they would make from a PvE version they could easily afford multiple other dev teams speeding up development tremendously.
@tsunamisurfer7344 Жыл бұрын
@@archonwarrior9146 They could change the game so you could have fun, or you can find a different game. The dev's were very honest about the type of vison they had for this game. And this pure pve experience was not part of it. I hope you find the game you are looking for.
@archonwarrior9146 Жыл бұрын
@@tsunamisurfer7344 I mean i found a game that i enjoy much more than MO2 (in its current state), but it's not the game i was hoping for MO2 would be because there simply is no game out there like that. About fighter class, I want to ask if it’s possible to do an all-rounder class, like foot soldier and mount archery? I’m currently a foot soldier class, and really wonder what kind of weapons should I prioritized, should I continue archery, can I do mount for travel and solo grind. So far my weapons of choices are everything except daggers and fists, but with the limited numbers of 1200 skill points, I can’t do everything. I even want to do mount combat because fucking hell, last thing I need when I get out of towns are being chased while on foots, wearing cumbersome armors, and carrying good shits that took a painfully huge amount of goods from dungeons by some random bullshiteries, and ran out of stamina Also any valuable tips for solo-grinders like me?

30 seconds to realize? You are crazy. They absolutely have an advantage in melee by a few milliseconds which can make or break a 1v1, 2v2, but has no impact on group fights, especially big ones. I am in the Philippines and play a mounted and a mage and my 180 ping (with exit lag) has absolutely no impact on me, I have amateur videos up if you want to see. I also have a Thursar and and Ogh and the only time I notice the ping difference in melee is when dueling the top 10%, and they both are perfectly fine in group fights and large battles.
