How can Q prove to us that he is mortal? Worf has the answer.

It’s funny how the entire crew hates Q, which normally would mean us audience members would dislike him too, but when you see it’s a Q episode you get filled with excitement and know it’s gonna be an amazing one.

He's the comedian, and they're all his straight men. Especially Captain Picard.
@shieldphaser Жыл бұрын
That's exactly why it works. If the crew liked Q, he'd just be a mary sue, which would make the episodes pretty lame. Q being disliked actually displays crucial personality flaws, making him much more interesting and three-dimensional than yet another overpowered mary-sue.

There are many good scenes with Q. But i almost always prefer the episodes without him. His comedian vibe and omnipotence often takes away from the vibe i like the most about tng. However i understand why many enjoy him

Worf coming in with THE greatest one-word response of all time.
@dynamicworlds14 жыл бұрын
The 2nd or 3rd greatest one word response: (if you'll excuse the Wikipedia copy) A laconic phrase or laconism is a concise or terse statement, especially a blunt and elliptical rejoinder.[1][2] It is named after Laconia, the region of Greece including the city of Sparta, whose ancient inhabitants had a reputation for verbal austerity and were famous for their blunt and often pithy remarks. . . A prominent example involves Philip II of Macedon. After invading southern Greece and receiving the submission of other key city-states, he turned his attention to Sparta and asked menacingly whether he should come as friend or foe. The reply was "Neither."[3] Losing patience, he sent the message: You are advised to submit without further delay, for if I bring my army into your land, I will destroy your farms, slay your people, and raze your city.[4] The Spartan ephors again replied with a single word: If.[5] Subsequently, neither Philip nor his son Alexander the Great attempted to capture the city.

This episode is one of the examples I use when I tell people that Deanna Troi's character had some of the worst writing and characterization ever. She was basically eye candy whose sole defining characteristic was her Betazoid powers. In the episode where she lost them and was effectively human, she was tantamount to completely useless. When Q lost his powers, on the other hand, it was an excellent way to show that he was more than his powers, and he grew as a character. This is also true of Odo on DS9.

That's no coincidence. Discord from MLP was designed after Q from Star Trek. They both share the same voice actor, John De Lance. Q came first, though, so Discord is, as TV Tropes puts it, a shoutout to Star Trek. I'm pretty sure Twilight's constant teleportation is also a Star Trek reference, too.

Modeled after Q and voiced by him. Discord is Q in the MLP world.

Well Q is older than the universe, so I assume that Q is older than the events of "My Little Pony." Unless the events "My Little Pony" occurred in an alternate universe.

I love how Worf just jumps right to full-Klingon with his "Die" line. I'm crying! 🤣🤣🤣

One of my favorite ST:TNG episodes, and probably the funniest, from start to finish. From Q appearing, nude, to what he does to/for Data in the end. I applaud whoever wrote this episode. Applaud, I tells ya!

Indeed. Q tried the whole 'take a human as a companion to impress' with Vash and it failed. He should ask the Doctor for tips...or just keep trying with Picard. xD
