Richard White It was probably (just my guess) that this was training. And that he was there to pull him backwards if he saw hand go over the tube after live round dropped into tube. I personally have never seen it done like this, even in training. But in today's military, we have to "idiot proof" everything. They simply instructed us that if you brought your hand over the tube, it would kill everyone in the pit. That was good enough for me !

throwing a shell down a tube causes damage to the tube, the shell is designed to slide down on its own. If you throw the shell down, you risk damaging the firing pin, the tube, and yourself as some of the blast destroyed the camo-net above them.

I had seen this vid in an "army fail" compilation; there is no real "fail" here, but a handling issue; people think that he's blowing a hole in the net, but the hole is in the net before the shot. It's normal for the camo netting to get torn up gradually, when its so close to conceal the firing position. The 'fail' was the mis use of the mortar round. You place it in the barrel, ass first, and let it DROP so the primer gets hit and the charge explodes, propelling the round out of the mortar. If you drop it down with FORCE, like, THROW the round down, the explosive force of the mortar can cause a misfire on dummy rounds, or blow a hole into the launcher; also the recoil is significantly higher, you can hear the explosion is MUCH louder on the "failed" round, its really audible. The reason is, its like a cannon, or a gun barrel. If you plug up a cannon, the cannon explodes. Same if you plug up a gun barrel, the barrel will burst. If the ARTY round is thrown in, the momentum will work out against upward propelling force for long enough, to cause damage to the gun itself. The propellant charge is made so that it catapults the round out, and the gasses leave the launcher; if you throw the round in, the explosion takes place, but takes longer to expell the round, which means, more pressure builds up in the tube, and that can damage it immediately, or over time; it also means less accuracy, because the round is leaving the barrel with either more or less force than intended. Imagine doing 50 fire missions a day, with 3-5 round bursts; if you drop in every round with force, accuracy decreases and the gun will eventually burst or become otherwise damaged. And that also brings the issue with timed fuzes up; if the exiting velocity of the round is lower or higher than intended, the whole "timing" is off, and the round explodes too high to make the airburst effective, or too low, causing the round to explode too close or in to the ground, making the airburst even less effective.

hmmm im quite fond in statistics and stuff and i think i know why this is how it is. The youtube algorithm has to be quite simple, as complex ones tend to produce to random output. I think it has some feature built in that triggers once a certain video reached a certain age or has not been seen by people for an extendend period of time. Then it recommends it to a few people. The occuring traffic resulting from these people watching the video will make it get recommended to others because its "hot". After a certain time when traffic gets less it vanishes again only for the cycle to repeat in a few years. So I THINK its these mechanics. Sadly the code is not public on how it really works. i hope the explanation was at least interesting. (or understandable. Not sure how bad my english is) ^^

small push down power= what actually happened, and what you should never do with a mortar gunpowder didnt explode 100%= no. the mortar has two triggers, one to detect firing (more accurately to prime the ammunition) and one to detect landing (or a timed fuze instead of hit trigger). pushing it in could trigger the priming before the gun was fired so when the gun fires it goes to detonate part quicker. with live ammo the mortar explodes right there and then if it was fired.
