My mate’s DG list uses both Rot and Morty, and it’s utter chaos to deal with from start to finish 😂 I’ve yet to manage to kill both of them in the same game, those boys are DAMN tanky!

I personally think both have great value but Morty at 300 points is exceptional support platform. Since index, he's dropped in points. Movement between terrain and the wings being an issue is now gone. I think the biggest reason to take Mortarion these days is the meta. I'm running into a lot of armies with 1/2 damage reduction, -1 damage, -1 to hit on a lot of units, no bracket when damaged, and so on. Don't care with Morty around. 😅 Anyways, can't wait to see your next battle report.

Your right, there seem to be so many things in the meta that can handicap us. Mortarion's aura does wonders in those match ups! Should find out in the next couple of days who I am going up against in the league :)

I've been running both in my current list and it's disgusting for my opponent to finally drop one for the other to just come in like What's up doc

I would like to play mortarion and Great unclean one. Only other must in my list are the bload drones.

Hey Rokki, your math is wrong on the effective wounds for Morty. 21.3 is the effective wounds if you just compare FNP for 16 wounds. But you need to consider that every passed FNP mean you get to make ANOTHER FNP against that wound. So Mortys effective wounds is actually 24 wounds. There was an old 9th ed goonhammer article about it, but youtube won't let me link it 🙂

Can we get a vid on GUO in DG? Seems like he can be a tank and making enemy infantry -1 T stacking on top of the DG buffs

I've run both, for their points they're pretty much a steal. Only issue is you need to DS or RI Rotigus so just be aware of getting screened out etc. Personally I'd prefer a rules tweek for Mortarion instead of points drop (same for BLTs). A fix for Mortarion is to let him get a second spread the sickness buff, so if you pick say -1WS/BS he also lets you give a unit within 6" one of -1OC or -1sv too. I'm fine with him not being crazy offensively but he should be a huge bebuff piece.

General consensus seems to be that everyone wants him buffed. Will be interesting to see what they do with Mortarion in the future!

You know whats also really saucy that I've tried out? Morty, rotigus, soul grinder SG really likes +1dmg :]

I think the key differences with the GUO is that most of its abilities (outside of -1 toughness) only affect daemons units. He's still a tanky unit but doesn't bring as much to the table as Rotigus for Death Guard.
