Morten was especially talkative in between songs that night in Paris, maybe to make up for the cancelled show of May. I managed to catch most of his speeches on camera... Here is a compilation of them.

I believe I understand perfectly what Morten was saying about perfection. In performance, if you strive for unrealistic perfection, you set up too high expectations for yourself and you become harsh with yourself and disconnected from what you are doing. You probably have that inner critic tape going in your head instead of enjoying being in the moment in a positive way and allowing and accepting whatever happens. This is opposed to when you just relax and let go and allow the music to come through you, and are just present and mindful, in the moment, you enjoy so much more, and can unwittingly attain perfection without trying, because, well, you weren't even trying, you were allowing the music to come through you. It's like seeking perfection in performance is like an ego thing. Staying open and communicating is meditational, selfless, you are joining with the audience and have a give and take. I myself am a performer and i understand from whence he speaks. STRIVING for perfection, perhaps in practice, is the ideal. You work and work and try to get it right, all of the notes, the lyrics, the voice. You try to set the pattern. And then in performance, you let go and allow whatever will be to be. It's often possible, in letting go, you achieve things you never knew you could. I think this is what he is getting at.

I think your explanation about what Morten said of perfection is spot on. I am also a perfectionist (in my writing and work) so I can relate too. Thank you for your words.

I think what he was saying...perfection if that is all we strive for can sometimes make us overlook those things that are good or very good...perfection stands on it's own...it is separate. I think he us saying later in life he now sees the good and very good while still striving for perfection. He is a perfectionist after all....I love to hear his thoughts...so deep and eloquent...he makes you pay attention and listen...open your mind. Love him!

I think perhaps he meant that something doesn´t have to be perfect to be good, it´s good enough as it is.He is very deep and special, not to mention attractive 😍😉😎

Yeah, I get the perfection concept. It doesn't belong in the same spectrum of good, not so good, or bad. It is unto its self. Thank you for sharing this. What a great night you had!

Morten is strange? Then being strange seems to be a good thing. Judging from his autobiography he's certainly not ordinary. And someone who has experienced in life what he has - as a kid and as a pop star - can't be ordinary.

I think Mort was saying something like while perfection is sometimes the goal, it is less spontaneous than just letting things flow naturally without effort. Even though something isn't perfect, it can still be very good.

He is so beautiful physically.... then he speaks and he is even more so. Fact is, I'd marry him for his lyrics and singing alone! Oh it's all too much.

Morton suggests perfection is unachievable, yet we must not devalue the good while striving for it.

I think Morten is very cerebral....and i think he sees things much differently than most people...so that must be what he meant about him being even stranger than strange!!

If he is strange than I feel strange too as I understand him so good.. This society is never happy... always asking more: is someone or an artist is shallow...ah he is too shallow....if he is deep ..ah too much philosophy...never happy...I am happy you are as you are Morten, thank you for that! It is a privilege to have you in this crazy world.

@@vaniachiandotto7797 He did not quote Jam Omdahl's full sentence about Morten. Jam said, "Morten isn't as strange as people think. He's much stranger. He's also nicer, kinder and smarter." If you only quote the passage that says it is very strange, the sentence is out of context and leads to misinterpretation.

@@rosanasouza8913 Thank you I know this quote, a very nice one. But talking in general also media, especially Norvegian ones, have not been always nice to him because of his way of talking, which I find easy to understand and very interesting. I also think he is not only cerebral, but also very intuitive,, the older he gets, the more he is 😍

When the girl shouts, "I love you, Morten!" i couldn't hear his response. Do you know what he says? Also, is there an English language version of his book?? All i see is a German one on Amazon. It would be a project to get through though i studied German considerably, but...English would be preferable...

I read somewhere that if you get his book on Kindle it can translate it to English. You select language. It's only in German and English. I have not read the book but was going to see if this works on kindle app.
