Happy New Year everyone and thank you so much for being the most fantastic, encouraging and positive audience. If you want more muskoxen, check out this guy - Gunnar Dresler: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKWZq2yNiaqZsKc He has also been on Dovrefjell, and I like his approach to the animals and the way he respects nature. He obviously puts a lot of effort into making his films and he deserves a much bigger audience. Check him out please:)

Hey Morten, My wife and I have been watching your videos together. We are both really enjoying them. Spending most of my life in Canada’s Yukon, I learned to love hiking and exploring in the back country. When I met my wife many many years ago, we began to share that experience together. This video was awesome because we could imagine exactly how you felt in that beautiful winter land. The fact that I am also an avid photographer just adds to the enjoyment. Anyway, we wanted to say that we really appreciate your down to earth videos. Definitely one of my favourite photography channels. Thank you.

Hej Morten, fellow Dane here. Been watching your nice videos for a while now and you are basically doing everything I wanted to do, specially the Svalbard trips🙂 Great stuff all of it. But you gotta watch you back carrying all that heavy equipment. I carryed simular big backpacks for years and I was sure that it was not a problem until it suddenly was. 3-4 years ago I started getting several diskusprolaps/discherniation / discus problems in the lower part of my spine. Today at only 49 years old I still can't carry a large backpack again and I may never be able again. So please take good care of your back. It's really something to look out for. Anyway, happy new year and keep up your excellent work🍀👍👍🙂

Crying at your work for some reason... or holding it back, I guess. I never even knew about these creatures. I don't know how they survive. and I am glad they do survive...Glad for your sharing and being.

Morten, what a joy to see this. Anyone who has ever been in more or less harsh outdoor conditions gets a sense of recognition. Mind you, I say more or less, because these are extremes. Your military background is essential to undertake this type of activity or someone must have internalized it in some other way. The joy of finding the animals-in your case, the Musk Oxen-is also recognizable. But the same rewarding/sensation is there, for example, when the Badger shows itself after you first find the castle and then you have to do all the work to: first, not disturb the animal, second, be prepared to wait a long time and to make good recordings when the Badger shows itself. So well thought out that occasionally standing up shows you're there, so the Musk Oxen are aware of your presence. What I also like is to resist the temptation to put yourself in a better position. The only time I take someone with me I get annoyed that that person wants closer and closer, that's why I go alone from now on. The images of the Musk Oxen and especially the young ones are so beautiful, it brings tears to the eyes. It can be seen that you are really cold and having a hard time, but you want to use every minute, which I think is great, but also dangerous if you don't have the experience to be in such conditions, luckily you have more than enough experience. It's a fine line between being very cold and hypothermic, then there's a serious problem, especially if you're alone. I look forward to the next videos, fantastic to watch and above all educational and motivating. Thank you so much.

I just watched a documentary about your guys on greenland the other day back from 2009. Their chief was also named Morten which gave me a little smirk as it seems to be a rather common name to denmark. That must have been the perfect preparation for you and your photography as you basically did exactly what you do today but with the purpose of protecting the boarders instead of documenting wildlife. Love how you take us with on your journey and share all the emotions we long for but also the ones we dread so much.

I'm with you re how amazing it is that animals can survive such conditions (and for weeks and months at a time). We had a 'heat wave' today :) and the temperature was only -15C when I was out today; the last couple of weeks we've had daytime highs no better than -25 (and much colder: -41 last week) and it never fails to amaze me to see small birds going about their daily lives as if it was a nice summer's day -- most notably the black-capped chickadee and the nuthatches. But today I saw a flock American Robins! I know some overwinter here they are definitely not thought of as winter birds and are famous here for heralding the return of spring! Then again you put on your down jacket, so I guess the birds are well equipped for the cold. No muskoxen in my neighbourhood :) Simply wonderful you got to spend a few hours with them!! Great video, as usual. Thanks for sharing!

Holy cow Morten - of course I’m ancient, but I could never have pushed through those elements to get the images you were persistent enough to get. Thank you for bringing us along with you. Getting those photos/videos must have been difficult enough, but filming yourself doing it, setting up, walking away, then returning to retrieve your equipment, added a great deal more difficulty to your work. Lastly, your respect for and knowledge of the animals is evident. We’ll done.
