For us, we're rolling that 2.25% all the way to the 30-year mark. For some people I understand why they mentally can't handle having debt. For us, the math works with investing and that's all that matters to us!

I like your plan! Paying off your mortgage after hitting Coast FIRE is a plan I recommend to most people.

@@MarriageKidsandMoney , We reached FI a couple years ago but in our situation carrying a mortgage in retirement isn't a concern.

Hi Andy! It was great meeting you at FINCON and thank you for being so kind and speaking with me. I was nervous to say hello. I appreciate it! Your journey and the stories of others you share are very inspirational. As I stated we paid off our mortgage August 2023 and it’s made a world of difference. I will be in contact with you. Enjoy the rest of your time at FINCON! :-)

paid off the house last year. we had a 2.25 interest rate which allowed us to pay the house off at an incredibly fast rate. then since we were able to remove any nagging worries about possibly ever "losing" the house due to financial issues, it allowed us to get VERY aggressive. we have since increased our investment rate to nearly 50% which also gave us the willingness to take much more risk. paying off our home is one of the best decisions we have ever made. it has turbo charged our investing and preparing for the best possible life we can build.

Dude you paid off a 3% loan way early? At least your loan amount was low, but I'd be kicking myself if I did that with my way bigger loan at a lower rate than yours was. I've been investing all I can and my net worth has skyrocketed over the last 10 years. Happy with my choice so far and looking forward to an early early retirement WITH a mortgage.

I'm happy for you that your net worth has skyrocketed! Nice work! My choice to pay off my 3% loan 7 years ago is not one I lose sleep on at night. It helped me to leave a job I wasn't thrilled with. Now I have a job I love. Making videos on the internet and chatting with you in the comments :)
