Heard these guys on the John Peel show in 2001. At that point I was 15 and the heaviest music I’d heard at that time was Slipknot. The song Dr Gore fucking blew my mind and opened up my exploration into a shit load of extreme metal genres, so thank you Mortician and thank you Peel

To be fair, Slipknot pumped out some really heavy shit on their first 2 records. 2001 was the infamous Iowa period, where they were at their absolute most insane. I still love them so… got me through lots of shit. As for Mortician… I’d say the best Deathgrind band ever. They are definitely my recommendation to anyone likes as brutal as possible, yet cohesive and groovy.

@@Divine_Serpent_Geh oh yeah I mean I wasn’t talking smack on Slipknot at all. I listen to them rarely these days, but certainly they have the accolade of having the heaviest album ever to reach number 1 in the UK - Iowa. The point I was making was it was kind of a leap for me to go from Slipknot to Mortician without first experiencing the many bands that would have been between them in levels of heaviness and speed.

These rehearsals are pure gold. Quality could be better but you can obviously see that they all know what they are doing. Always made me mad to hear that Mortician is a joke band. So many copycats these days!
