Thank you! I've been watching videos on mosaic knitting and none of them have made sense to me, especially when it came to reading the charts. Some of them were 30 minutes long and made no sense to me. But your "tiny tutorial" made it click! Clear and concise and now I can finally finish that cardigan I've been putting off because of the band of mosaic knitting around the middle!

Lovely video! You are very calming to listen to. I think that Mosaic knitting in only one color of yarn is categorized as simple "slipped stitch knitting". However, if Mosaic knitting is knit in more than one color (as the pattern above) it is considered stranded colorwork knitting as well as slipped stitch knitting. Mosaic knitting with two colors will still have the alternating color stranded behind the other slipped stitch. There is no way to avoid that. It is a beautiful and magical form of colorwork knitting. This pattern is so pretty paired with your heavenly yarn! This video was great inspiration

Thank you for posting a video tutorial for mosaic knitting! I've been intimidated by this technique, but your video makes it look so much easier than I imagined. Can't wait to give it a try. :-)

Thank you!! I have two mosaic patterns in my queue, and even though I had been knitting for many years, have NEVER done it! I don’t find colourwork hard, but am looking forward to trying this new-to-me technique!

Man thank you. I fear fair isle and wanted to learn mosaic but couldn't get the charts figured out. Could you explain how to do this in the round.😍😀

Thank you, Felicia! I wondered how this technique worked, and now I know!

Thanks Patti! I was always curious too and I'm glad I took a couple minutes to figure it out. No longer a mystery! :)

I don't understand how you work the very first row of a chart. How can you slip a stitch that you have not used yet? still very confused on how to begin the chart...
@dianneunderwood84564 жыл бұрын
Great demonstration! - haven't tried this as yet, but would guess it would be best to have no more than 5 stitches in any one colour to work at once. Otherwise you may have floats that are too long to carry across that distance. (Unless there is a technique to catch the floats like stranded work??). Thank you for taking the time to share this.

This is awesome Felicia! Thank you so much for doing this! I'm going to add this link to my pattern page. For anyone interested in the Smugglers Cove pattern it is available here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/smugglers-cove. I would only add that it often helps people to use 1 size larger needle for the Mosaic but check that out in your swatch as to whether you want to or not. It is also advised to choose a smooth yarn with strongly contrasting colors and be sure they are the same thickness. The Tough Love Sock and accompanying Party of Five worked perfectly for me.

I'm so glad you did a video mosaic knitting! I have tried and failed at fair isle many times because of the float tension. Maybe I should give this a go :)
@sweetgeorgia6 жыл бұрын
Oh yes! I probably should have mentioned to keep those tiny floats a little loose too... but yes. Float tension... I talked a bit about that here in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pprQhnyan6lsoKc

When you do the purl side do you follow the chat right to left or left to right? I've only ever read a chart for a hat on circulars, not flat, so I no idea
@sweetgeorgia6 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you are knitting flat, you follow the chart back and forth. So, on a knit side, you read the chart from right to left, then on the purl side you read the chart from left to right. If you are reading a chart for circular knitting, you always read from right to left. Hope that helps :)

So do you carry other colour up the side
@sweetgeorgia6 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's correct. I carry the yarn up the side just like I would for a plain striped pattern. I just pull the strand I'm going to knit with forward in front of the yarn colour I just dropped each time. We also made a tiny video for that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH_ThX-GeJKjfMk
@sugarlee76484 жыл бұрын
Do you slip as if to pearl or as if to knit?
@sweetgeorgia4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply! We always slip as if to purl, unless otherwise specified :) thanks for watching... and thanks for your patience :)
@sugarlee76484 жыл бұрын
Thank you for answering. I like your presentation but it’s difficult to see what you’re doing from that angle. I’m learning fair isle and came across your video. I make hats for cancer patients living in Arkansas. This would be a better thickness for their warm climate. Thanks again!
