A good teacher simplifies things and makes it look like fun. You my friend are a very good teacher. I'm an experienced knitter, but for the life of me could not figure out brioche knitting. This was by far the best video I've seen! Thank you for taking your time and thoroughly explaining the steps, what to look out for, how to "read" the knitting so you can see what needs to come next, but also about talking about what you were struggling with when you were trying to learn. I would have never thought that the "slip" I've always done would need to be done differently for brioche stitches. Now I can't wait to dive into a brioche pattern. Thank you!

I have been struggling working on a pair of slippers for my mother that start out with flat brioche and then goes into brioche in the round. I must have restarted it at least three or four times when I got to the round part. I looked a lot of videos and I am so grateful that I came across this video because it has been the absolute best description and instructions on how to do this and what to look at when you're doing the stitches. I have now completed several rounds on the slippers and am confident that I can put this down and pick it back up again without issue. Thank you for making such a clear and concise video. You have such a wonderfully clear voice and great cadence for video tutorials. In the first three minutes, just from your spoken explanation of the knitting terms [before you even begun the visual lesson] I was able to glean wayyyyy more than from any other brioche video I've watched. I love how much you stressed the structure of the process and teaching one how to "read" the knitting so as to not have to rely on the infinite ways that different designers may write brioche instructions. I am a fan of your teaching style. Bravo and much thanks indeed!

Even with your patient and informative instructions, I had to restart this a couple of times, until I could 'see' it! But perserverance has paid off, it now makes sense to my brain! Thank you!! And I am amazed at you doing this with magic loop...those ladders would drive me over the edge. I'm glad they have come out with shorter cords for the KnitPro and Knitter's Pride family of needles- I find the shortest cord of the Mindful Collection to let me do hats and cowls with ease, and now the two cords that came in the KnitPro Denim shorts set are even shorter!! I love making warm scarves in the round, instead of flat pieces, and brioche is going to make them doubly warmer, as well as beautiful. Thank you again for your patient instruction. I am off to see what else is on your channel! 🥰😘

Thank you for explaining and photographing so well. I've been struggling to learn this (am experienced knitter) and agree the S1yo can be confusing. Where I always goof is on the last stitch of the row and the first stitch due to the slip sts. This causes my count to be off and combination of colors in sts. What I've learned is, 1. Every slip st will be a live st not a slip st. 2. The yarn must always be in front of work when doing the slip st. 3. Every Brk or Brp with two color Brioch will have one of each color for this st.Not just MC or CC but 1MC 1CC. 4. One Brioche st consists of a slip and live st. Last your idea to begin the project with basic knitting foundation is a good one. This helps stabilize the work for the Brioche to build on. Plus makes it much clearer what colors and sts to do. To start the beginning as Brioche is difficult when learning, I'll try a swatch with your technique of a few rows traditional then begin Set Up rows for Brioche. New Sub, Tks. Also glad you knit English vs Continental. I do too and much easier to follow.
