“As soon as you make a slow turn you’re dead .... ok?” 🤣 brilliant ! What a legend.

Totally agree. And a great guy to work with. I've made two other Mosely minimovies on this channel.

Obviously he's totally right. I teach people to ski bumps and tell them the same. You must commit to the line and commit to several fast bumps. Slowing it down on bumps is death. Especially deep ones. You must keep a flow and rhythm.

Every time I watch this, it improves my bump skiing. And I've watched it a LOT.

@@julesolder not the song, Jonny's advice of "mogul skiing is all about getting on your downhill ski as quickly as possible," which he tells every group that chases him down the mountain

With this tips I got an idea for mogulskiing after 22 years of active freeskiing. Before I just went through them with speed 😁 The first mogulvideo in KZbin that really makes sense.

This is great, Johnny hit on a bad habit of mine. I try to get against the downhill ski when I need to be over it in bumps - not like the flats.

It's difficult to demonstrate that little push off the downhill ski in slow motion like that, but it's important to get that snap off the ski and into the new turn. Haven't heard of any other instructors focusing on that movement

So that's how you do it. No wonder...

I am curious, is Jonny "hopping from (downhill) ski to ski" or "hopping from both skis (feet) simultaneously?" PS, Jonny is an awesome skier with a beautiful effortless-looking style.

Hit technique is exaggerated here, and is only needed in the gnarliest of moguls. I teach a stepping approach (similar timing as he mentions), which is easier for intermediate and older skiers. You still step on to the new downhill ski early (I.e. BEFORE you have crested the bump); it is subtle but requires much less energy.

Sometimes the description gets in the way. Just look at skiing as you would learning to dance: just copy the moves from the good dancer whose moves you want to emulate.

I agree- it’s just instinctive for him now to ski - clearly a bit harder for him to teach the technique .... like ok just copy me...

Umm you definitely don't want to jump when skiing moguls... the key to mogul skiing that most people are never taught is absorption. I've never seen any good mogul skiing advice on the internet which I think is strange. I guess you need to know good bump skiers to become a good bump skier.

oh, what year did you win the olympic mogul championship?
@smackdab78056 жыл бұрын
Repeating a section from a comment I made above (sorry, is that bad youtube manners?): "He's not suggesting a jump where the skis leave the snow (of course lots of people do that, too, even though they shouldn't). He's talking about getting the weight transfer to happen more quickly and more aggressively than what most people do on groomers. His "jumping" refers to getting the hips (and upper body follows) through the turn first and early -- it feels like you're jumping as you shift weight."

Crappiest music for mogul master Moseley. I've skied a lot, but this is the first time I've heard and seen what you do with your downhill ski transitioning over the bump, quickly getting it to ski on the back of the mogul. Moseley says a and does it better. But I'm gonna watch this video a bunch of times and practice it. FOr me it seems the missing link. Thanks Johnny. And again, ditch the music. Sounds like a Richy, Potsy, Ralph Malf attempt to recreate their parents sock hop. Truly horrible for a man of Moseley's stature.

Jonny, with all respects you are a great champion but you are the worst teacher.. In moguls you do exactly the opposite !!. Your weight is on the inside ski not the outside.. What is this jumping business ..??
@sungheumbaek8 жыл бұрын
you're wrong. his weight is on the downhill ski. that's the outside ski as you said. I think you don't know how to ski in bumps.
@rafaelfalagan38148 жыл бұрын
true. normally the rule of thumb for piste is to use the downhill. This doesn't work in bumps and mixed conditions. I can ski fairly well non zip line bumps which require good physical condition and youth. I could handle fairly well the bump run on the video at a moderate speed with my balance on the uphill ski.
@skibumzach6 жыл бұрын
+Rafael Falagan Just out of curiosity how would you have any power putting the weight on the uphill ski? I have always used the bump to help me turn which puts the weight on my downhill ski. Also going off the bump does give you a little pop transitioning you into the next bump which I imagine is this jump he is talking about.
